Suicide Delver (Esper) (Modern)

Taking disruption to the next level. Targeted discard, extraction and removal keeps your opponent threatless in the most efficient way possible, utilizing your life total as a resource. Then land a Death's Shadow and close the game out with a beater of unmatched proportions.

Tasigur, the Golden Fang is currently the only source of card advantage. I'm considering running a third instead of the Gurmag Angler, or maybe Dark Confidant has a place in this deck. If you have other ideas of how I can refill my hand, please post a comment.

Imp's Mischief is essentially a counterspell with enormous upside. It's even great in against burn.

Vapor Snag is a pretty versatile inclusion, as you can use it as a tempo play, use it to save a creature of yours, or even use it to make a Surgical extraction extra potent.

Every mode on Orzhov Charm is useful in this deck. And Profane Command is just a more flexible version of it, but is only a 1-of because of it's increased cost.

The deck only runs 19 lands, but since it doesn't care about it's life total, it can run extra shocks. Base 50% to flip Delver of Secrets and actually decent percentages to get the colors you need. The curve is incredibly low, so the deck can function on few lands, and then actually pay the phyrexian mana costs later so that the life total stays in a safe, but low range.

Timely Reinforcements helps you manage your life total, should you get too low, and can also help give you the extra bodies to finish the game. Though I'm considering adding another copy to either the main or sideboard. I'm looking for other cards to serve this purpose (preferably at instant speed), so if you have any ideas, let me know.

Ghost Quarter gives you great game against decks like tron, which becomes extra potent with Surgical Extraction. Still trying to figure out whether or not to switch out the Urborg, Tomb of Yogmoth for a third ghost quarter (which the mana base would actually be able to handle).

The deck is actually a bit weak to ghost quarters, as they can almost completely shut you out of white, but I don't think that it's enough of a threat to deal with.

Lastly, the sideboard:
Aetherize against any stragegy going wide. It's a decent answer against affinity and twin as well. Apostle's blessing is good to put on death's shadow for a big hit against any opponent who is getting big blockers on the board faster than you can remove them. Hallowed moonlight wrecks a lot of "unfair" decks. It kills the twin combo, kills reanimators, kills token strategies, kills aether vials, the list goes on and on. Imp's mischief is for anyone heavy on targeted spells. This would include things like burn and control decks, or maybe even decks that play a lot of hand disruption. Lingering Souls is for taking down the grindy-er decks like jund and junk if you arent able to extract liliana in time. It's also just a good plan against non-creature decks, since your removal is dead anyway. Shadow of Doubt is here because I love to kill fetchlands, and it's more versatile than squelch. Also plays well against tron and chord decks. Zealous persecution is great against token strategies and Affinity. Also not bad against twin. If you have the deck slots post-board, siding in both Lingering Souls and Zealous persecution makes for a great surprise.
