To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
This is an attempt to make a competitive UW Control deck for the current modern meta.
MAINDECK:
The deck relies on Fraying Sanity/Traumatize as its main win condition. Overall, the deck survives by using low cost counter spells (i.e., Negate and Mana Leak) in order to handle most non-creature threats (and of course some creature threats when necessary through Mana Leak). Remand is included for value in order to trigger the Tutelage (or help find one) without preventing you from being able to handle your opponent's threats. Gitaxian Probe is included to give information without tapping out early game, but also creating triggers off of Tutelage. In order to handle early attackers (from decks like Infect and Kiln Fiend) I've included 4 copies of Path to Exile. The deck also uses the Quicken/Supreme Verdict combo to draw cards and wipe the board at instant speed (allowing me to focus my counters on non-creature threats without much worry). Of course the main way to win is with the massive card draw off of late game Sphinx's Revelations (which also help keep me in the game through life gain). In order to help sculpt my draw I have included 2 copies of Jace, Architect of Thought and 1 copy of White Sun's Zenith to create instant speed blockers if need be (or potentially create another win con). As the deck relies on churning through cards fairly steadily, I included 2 copies of Elixir of Immortality (2 to protect against hand disruption such as Inquisition or Thoughtseize). Lastly, the Detention Sphere's are included to handle Walkers or other potential combo pieces that I may not be able to counter (not to mention it can occasionally wipe boards by removing multiple Noble Hierarchs or Swiftspears and the like).
SIDEBOARD:
My main issue with this deck is that the early game can be troublesome. That said, I've included 2 copies of Angel's Grace, Blessed Alliance and Nyx-fleece Ram to give myself some survivability. The Hurkyl's Recall and Ravenous Traps are brought in specifically for Affinity and Dredge, respectively. Pulse of the Fields and Leyline of Sanctity come in against burn decks. The 1-of Cyclonic Rift is included against aggro- or go-wide- decks.
