DOMINARIA UPDATE: Oh boy, so many legends to choose from. Sadly, my crazy deckbuilding restrictions mean that I can't run excellent cards like Urza's Ruinous Blast. However, Board the Weatherlight does feature Jhoira, Liliana, and Gideon, so it's an auto-include over Deploy the Gatewatch, which has massively underperformed. Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain is also a major upgrade over her past self. My other three updates are just taking out uninteresting cards like Mana Prism and Kemba, Kha Regent (sorry Kemba, but your fan service cannot save you) for some newer spice. Rona, Disciple of Gix is another reanimator creature, which is great for when everyone targets your stuff because it's the best stuff. Huatli, Warrior Poet makes tokens like Arlinn Kord, but she can also kill obnoxious things right away, which is importat. Lastly, I've been meaning to get a Kaya, Ghost Assassin in the deck for a while. She's got card draw and can re-trigger ETBs.

WHAT'S THIS DECK ALL ABOUT?

From a discussion at a convention about the viability of Jace as Best Waifu, the Waifu Warz decklist was born! Card selection was made under the following criteria:

  1. All creatures must be legendary. All creatures or planeswalkers must be viable in an anime-style "harem".
  2. The criterion for inclusion is fairly straightforward. The card must either stand alone as a strong include in a standard EDH deck, play a major role in Magic storytelling, fulfill an anime stereotype, or have art with sufficient fan-service as to be indispensable. And, of course, all characters must be female.
  3. Three exceptions are allowed to the "female" provision. Gideon Jura is allowed under the "husbando" option. Jace Beleren is allowed because of his soft, feminine features. Nicol Bolas is allowed because he felt left out and mind-controlled me to include him.
  4. Non-land, non-creature/planeswalkers must feature only females or characters in the deck.

CARD CHOICES

The non-waifus were difficult to find. Searching for cards by artwork is time-consuming. I went for basic categories.
Ramp is mostly Nissa's purview; she gets three cards to herself, plus Zendikar Resurgent, featuring the entire Gatewatch. Mana Reflection features a pair of females. Mana Prism is one of the only mana rocks to feature a person at all. Abundance works on fixing your draws.
Opportunity, Pursuit of Knowledge, and Rhystic Study all draw cards with varying degrees of success. Thought Reflection, of course, makes all your draws better.
Akroma's Vengeance is a strong board wipe. Rout is also strong, but you need the Conspiracy version, which depicts Elesh Norn. Snuff Out is targeted removal, but again, a specific version is needed (Liliana vs. Garruk).
For search effects, Call/Deploy the Gatewatch and Gifts Ungiven can find basically everything you need.

The straight-up good cards don't really need explaining, I hope.

The harem staples are fairly eclectic.
Chandra Nalaar and Jace Beleren are specifically chosen for the Japanese Jace vs. Chandra duel deck with alternate anime-style artwork.
Diaochan, Artful Beauty is a traditional court dancer. Standard include.
Kiku, Night's Flower wears an excellent harem outfit.
Kiora, the Crashing Wave narrowly beat out Emrakul, the Promised End (who is female) for the token "tentacle fan" position.
Nin, the Pain Artist fills the position of "fan of spankings".
Queen Marchesa is a queen. Sen Triplets are triplets. Enough said.

I'll let you look for yourself at the artwork for the fan service choices. It is important to note that I do not have any equipments for Kemba, Kha Regent. That's how powerful her cleavage is.

For the story-centric choices, four fit into the same story. Avacyn, Bruna, Gisela, and Sigarda are the major angels from Innistrad. The original Bruna is worse for this deck, so Eldrazi-fied Bruna is used. The other three are better in their original forms. Akroma, Jaya Ballard, Mirri, and Phage are all mainstays of Magic's history. None of these cards are slouches either.

This deck appears to be legal in EDH / Commander.
