So, here's a deck based off a request by Flavin for a not-so-budget warrior tribal deck. The concept and gameplay is still the same as my budget Warriors of the Coast, but with improvements here and there. So, let's get to it!
First off, we're no longer running a ton of basic lands, and Scoured Barrens has been replaced with Caves of Koilos, which is obviously the better card. Next up is Temple of Silence, although you could go without... I feel like with a deck such as this, a scry ability will aid your card draw immensely. Mana Confluence and Urborg are just there to aid the mana you tap for if you run into trouble, so your mana base is more or less secure.
Herald of Dromoka makes a reappearance, because I feel that it is a little undervalued at times, and I see him missed out in quite a lot of warrior decks. Vigilance is not terribly important, but it is handy, and like before, the Blood-Chin Rager, Herald of Dromoka and Chief of the Edge combo is what makes this deck tick. Dragon Hunter is in, because with the current metagame, I think protection from dragons is a nice thing to have around. Mardu Woe-Reaper and Blood-Chin Fanatic fall into the third category of ability, where they don't WIN you the game, but help, especially for longer games.
So, what about the other spells? Well, Duress is a sideboard card and along with Despise, they have been replaced by Thoughtseize, which is tons better. Bile Blight is a good removal for most things, especially if your opponent floods the board with tokens. Hero's Downfall as opposed to Ultimate Price, because the latter only works on monocoloured creatures. I was thinking about whether Secure the Wastes was a needed addition, and I guess it is, because late game, with tons of mana floating, you could spawn a lot of 1/1 warriors to chump block...maybe. Valorous Stance, could be taken out for more Downfall and Bile Blight, but people tend to target the Rager and Chief of the Edge, so making them indestructible can be handy. Obelisk of Urd is almost a must, because it buffs your tiny warriors so that they won't die to removal...say, another Bile Blight.
Lastly, Drac- I mean Sorin. His +1 is nice, but his ultimate is what matters. By getting your opponent to sacrifice a creature means that you'll have less on the board to deal with, and if it means they are left with the one creature, Blood-Chin Rager will mean that your warriors will be lethal. I won't go into the side board too much, but in summary, it features more removal.
Thanks for looking!
