Announcement: 7/12/21
Hello All,
It's been a while! First and foremost, we created this list because we felt that the direction that the official ban list was going was too restrictive for our group. However, since we have last updated this list, our list now is more restrictive than the official one. Because of this, we have decided to align our list more with the official bannings by removing "Banned as Commander" and unbanning all cards that no longer appear on the official list. The following cards are now unbanned:
-Derevi, Empyrial Tactician
-Doomsday
-Hermit Druid
-Loyal Retainers
-Oath of Druids
-Strip Mine
-The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
-Zur the Enchanter

Also, today WoTC announced that Hullbreacher has been banned. We will be reviewing the ban soon and will make a ruling. This list will go into effect 7/16/21. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello All,
After discussion with a few members of the group, we are going to follow Wizards in the banning of Lutri, the Spellchaser.

The new companion mechanic is if you meet the criteria of a spell with said mechanic, you may cast the card from outside the game once per game. This essentially means that it is possible to have an extra card in your deck that you can access at anytime. This isn't a huge problem given that the requirements on the cards are very strict and often require building around. However, Lutri's requirement is a condition already met when playing commander (all non-land cards must have different names). Thus, this is a card that has no downside to run in every red/blue deck and has a powerful ability of copying a spell.

We don't usually agree with day 1 bannings BUT this card breaks the fundamental rules of commander and gives a clear advantage to blue and red decks.

RIP Lutri, the Spellchaser

May he smile upon us in otter heaven

Hello Everyone,
We have been discussing a few banlist topics the last couple weeks so we decided an update is needed:
1) Sensei's Divining Top is now unbanned. It was banned not due to the power of the card but rather how it can slow games down. Considering we allow a lot of cards that allow the game to grind anyways, it didn't seem right to keep it banned. If this card becomes a problem in the future, we can revisit it.
2) We never made an announcement but Back to Basics is no longer "Under Consideration" and is fully unbanned.
3) The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale is being put into "Under Consideration" to see if it is broken enough to remain banned. The argument is that because it is very situational and doesn't tap for mana, it isn't a power issue but a price one. We do not want to ban cards due to price.

It's been a while MTGC since our last banlist update! We recently found that WTOC has become much more liberal with their banlist so we decided that we wanted our list to reflect those changes. The following cards have been unbanned:
-Chaos Orb
-Coalition Victory
-Dig Through Time
-Food Chain
-Gaea's Cradle
-Griselbrand
-Humility
-Library of Alexandria
-Mana Crypt
-Mana Drain
-Mana Vault
-Mishra's Workshop
-Necropotence
-Protean Hulk
-Survival of the Fittest
-Treasure Cruise
-Vial Smasher the Fierce

Cards that have been banned:
-Loyal Retainers

This list will go into effect March 1st. If you would like a detailed description of why a card is banned or unbanned, please visit the discuss tab to see the general reasoning. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to me.

Hello Everyone,
We have quite a few announcements regarding the Banlist so let's jump right into it:
1) We are unbanning Moat in both multiplayer and single player; The effect is powerful in that you need to answer it in certain decks but since it still allows flyers to swing through it doesn't feel as advantageous as other cards on this list. Banned by WOTC without reason but not by Duel Commanders, we don't see a legitimate reason for this card to be banned beyond accessibility due to price.
2) Back to Basics is being put into "Under Consideration" which allows it to be play tested in the group for an undetermined amount of time. This was banned due to being Land hate in blue which is generally a red color and as such it should remain in red. Duel Commander said it was because blue was too powerful however I'm not sure that matters really since mono-blue is pretty much needed to run this card since you hurt yourself almost as badly in a multi-color blue based deck. This card should be unbanned mainly because the premier mono-blue deck is Baral and since Emrakul is banned, that takes the deck from a tier 1 deck to a tier 2 deck since it severely weakens it's win condition. Also, mono-blue lacks the tutors to consistently get Back to Basics so it's far less abusable in those decks. However, we could not come to a complete consensus so we are going to test it out and see what happens.
3) Edgar Markov is no longer under consideration and will remain unbanned.
4) Silver bordered cards are fun, however, due to the amount ruling conflicts we feel that it will cause more issues than it is worth. However, if you REALLY want a specific one unbanned, just ask and we'll look into it.

After the announcement that the French list will remove commander damage, MTG Commandos have decided that we did not like the direction that it was heading. Thus, we have constructed a unified banlist from the WTOC 1v1, WTOC Multiplayer and French Banlists. We will review cards if one of those lists is updated or a card proves to be too troublesome. If you would like to know why certain cards are or aren't banned, send me a message.

Silver Bordered Cards: 12/19/2017
We understand that silver bordered cards are currently legal in EDH until January 15th, 2018, however, we haven't made any decisions about silver bordered cards because we would like to see the explanations by wizards and other lists. For now I think it would be better to not build decks featuring these cards because it potentially would be a waste of time and money. I would ask you to wait until a final decision is made. Thank you.
