This started out as a UB-control deck in which the opponent was constantly tapped (mana/permanents never untapped). I retooled it after playing some games against people and, while I liked the mana lockout combo it had, I didn't like the way it locked people up. It frequently took just one or two turns too long, and led to several games where I would have won if I could have gotten it out one turn earlier. I retooled it, and put in a couple Elixer of Immortality's to deal with mill or life loss, Aegis of the Gods can come out early and buys you some time. Pacifism deals with nasty creatures. Suppression bonds is in there namely to deal with plainswalkers or cards with tap abilities that you don't want. .
Vivid Creek is in here in case you want to splash in a third color, which I occasionally do with Sen Sisters or some other one-off.
Abolisher comes out early and gives you a few turns (or more if there's no removal) of being able to cast anything w/o worrying about interrupts.
Admonition Angel, as a 6 drop, ideally comes out near to when you get your spell lock combo off, and helps clear the board (with landfall) of anything which has been put out that can hinder your advance.
An additional consideration to always keep in mind is the ability to cast the spell from exile triggers anytime you cast a spell from hand. So what I've done on a few occasions is I've happened to get an admonition angel or another really big creature (say from opponent) into the exile pool. So i cast a 1 or 2 drop, it exiles, then I cast the big creature spell. In response to that cast, I cast a counter, which exiles and allows me to cast another big creature. I cast a counter, which allows me to cast another big creature. I cast a final instant, which exiles and allows me to cast another big creature.
The side board tailors the general nature of the deck's lockdown to specific circumstances. Norn's Annex is very helpful against agggro/token decks (that don't run alot of white) because if an opponent wants to swing for lethal damage to you, they often have to lethally damage themselves first. This combines nicely with another card I've tried once, Exquisite blood. Versus non-white decks, your opponent essentially is giving you 2 life per creature every time they attack.
All in all, it's built to cripple the opponent's ability to do anything meaningful.
Comments welcome.
