"In other's dreams, I saw madness. Eventually, the madness saw me too." - Ashiok
I have a U/B which is a slow, slow, arduious mill using Ashiok, the Nightmare Weaver and Sphinx's Tutelage. It's actually pretty good, and has caused more than its fair share of triggered scoops. But it made me want to play around with the fantasy of Ashiok. This being who enters peoples dreams and turns their worst fears against them. What if that power, that nightmare, looked into his dreams?
The ideal progression is: Turn 1 and 2, you're controlling the board. Stopping crap from going insane.
Turn 3 you slam Ashiok. Tick him up to 5.
Turn 4 you hit Shimian Specter. Tick up to 7.
Turn 5 you drop Decent into madness. Tick up to 9.
Turn 6 Nightmare Incursion. Tick up to 11
Turn 7 you have a choice. If you're confident you can close it out, then you hit them with Neverending Torment. There's nothing left of your opponent's library, or very little left, once this goes out. Now you just start sacrificing permanents to Decent.
-OR-
you can go for the money load. you should have about 5-6 lands. So you hit that fascination + Ashiok's ultimate. This is usually my multiplayer play, as it goes a long way to absolutely ruining your opponents' games.
if you can keep it up long enough, then once Specter hits the field, you are in good shape. As soon as you get a hit with him, it's hard to come back.
It's a pretty fun, though anger-inducing, deck. Ashiok will forever be my favorite planeswalker.
