To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Pauper EDH is an alternative format that uses any uncommon creature as the commander and the 99 are commons.
This dimir deck is commanded by Lazotep Chancellor, I've been wanting a cycling payoff uncommon for a long time and it took me a while to realize the Chancellor is exactly that.
The deck name comes from the commander's Sketch Variant's flavour text.If we pay an additional mana every time we cycle/discard we get to either make a 2/2 army token, or put two +1/+1 counters on an army creature. This ability does not specify "discard one or more" so you can do it for every card discarded which makes cards like Tolarian Winds, Frantic Search etc very nice.
18 auto-includes in the deck are the cards in dimir colours that cycle for (1), which translates to 2 mana, draw a card, put two +1+1 counters on target army creature.
After that we have some cards that cycle for 2 with potential upside such as lands, removal, counterspells, etc. Basically cards we're ok to cycle and ok to play as they are.
The deck scales very well with mana so there's roughly 9 sources of acceleration in the deck. I'd like more but cuts are tough to make.
Some notable cards are;
Tortured Existence which has an ability that translates to a repeatable 2 mana put two +1+1 counters on target army.There's also Dihada's Ploy which is fantastic after a string of cycling or a Tort. Ex. chain, you can do it twice, and it triggers our commander.
The deck is a bit light on evasion but Rousing Read does everything the deck wants in a single card.
Dreamscape Artist is a repeatable ramp card that also triggers our commander.
Finally there's Oona's Grace which is sort of a powered down Tectonic Reformation for our deck but it's definitely good enough as most of our cycling card strings end at drawing lands.
On that note one could definitely cut some lands as the deck goes through a ton of cards and lands can be "dead ends". Personally I just value good opening hands highly (loss aversion) and there's a fair amount of looting in the deck to pitch the extra lands drawn.
Weaknesses of the deck is that with the large amount of auto-includes the space for everything else shrinks, hopefully counteracted with the large amount of cards that'll pass through our hand. So there's less removal, less protection and less actual card advantage.
It's possible that cutting the Cranial Plating package & Amorphous Axe / Runed Stalactite in favour of cards like Aboshan's Desire / Diplomatic Immunity / Alexi's Cloak is a good idea. I mention it because Amass doesn't target, so shroud is virtually not a drawback at all and the deck kind of needs to protect both the commander (it doesn't function without it) and the Army.i did it lolThanks for reading!
