Mono Black Control (Modern)

This deck will be able to react to any threat your opponent puts out. Black Knight and Butcher Ghoul are extremely good 2 drops and both can help deal with cards such as strangle rootgeist. Geralf's Messenger is another strong 3 drop. Vampire Nighthawk is hard to be as an extremely good 3 drop that is good early or late game. Gatekeeper of Malakir helps the deck's removal and can really help clear the board for other creatures. Erebos, God of the Dead ensures that your opponent can not use life-link and it is also an extremely good four drop even if your devotion to black is less than 4 due to the fact that you can still use its ability to draw a card. Erebos's Titan is a good four drop even if you don't count its abilities. Its ability to become indestructible if your opponent controls no creatures synergies well with the 2,3 drops of this deck that aim to control the board. Dread is another strong big hitter. Sorin, Liliana, and Grave Titan provide the late game presence that can help you adapt to all the big late game threats your opponent puts out. Duress is very good at giving you insight into your opponents plan and allows you to ruin all of what he or she had planned. Whip of Erebos and Sanguine Bond synergize very well together and give you a way to gain life and lower your opponents life total! Disentomb lets you get back some early game cards such as Vampire Nighthawk or big powerful late game creatures like Grave Titain from your graveyard. Dash Hopes and Hero's Downfall help counter spells that could destroy your creatures!!
