This list plays to the power of its commander Muldrotha, the Gravetide

All cards in this list can be replayed from the yard with Muldrotha.

At its core, this is a BUG control deck with elements of a toolbox deck. When playing this deck, don't overextend into your graveyard, just use it as an extension of your hand.

Gameplan:

 Opening hand:

With how mana intensive this deck is, you really need to have your lands and ramp early. Generally your looking at about 3 lands in your opening hand, with all 3 colors as early as possible.

Keeping 1/2 land hand with ramp is possible, but you need to hand card advantage in hand to get to the rest of your lands.

Having answers in your opening hand is a good idea, but is not a must.

Opening hands with a turn 2 Muldrotha through Lion's Eye Diamond are very risky. This kind of opening makes you extremely vulnerable to graveyard hate, counter magic and removal.

Keep these at your own risk!

Hands with Sylvan Library are almost always a keep, as long as you have the lands to cast it.

Early Game:

Your turns 1-3 should consist of ramping and setting up an engine if possible.

Few combos to mention just in case the game goes on for too long:

Sac Outlet + Mikaeus + Walking Balista for infinite damage.

Deadeye Navigator + Muldrotha + LED = Infinite Mana, cast all cards in your graveyard

Phantasmal Image + Animate Dead + Muldrotha + LED = Infinite Mana, cast all cards in your graveyard

UPDATES:

3/26/19

Currently Testing:

Cephalid Coliseum - So far, it has won me the game by drawing into a combo, can act as a discard outlet and a solid source of card draw

Sakura-Tribe Elder - 6 basics in the deck, can be cast early and recast for more value. No complaints so far

Kiora, the Crashing Wave - has its uses but most of the time she is weak. Not surviving the next set of cuts

Emrakul, the Promised End - Seems great on paper. Most of the time she costs 8 to cast and can be used mess someones board up

Currently Not Great:

Mystic Remora - Hit or miss with this card. I'd say it's a meta call, right now it draws me cards about %50 of the time at best, other times, I just end up letting it die.

Nissa, Steward of Elements - So most of the time I want to cast her for 3 mana and just scry 2.

4/16/19

Kiora, the Crashing Wave got cut for Ashiok, Dream Render - She fills our yard, exiles opponents yards and stops them from tutoring, all for 1 less mana! Very solid inclusion, will be testing once it gets released

Emrakul has not under performed yet, so staying in.

Steve (Sakura-Tribe) - solid, staying in

Cephalid - Made the decision to keep it in as an additional source of card draw to dig for answers

Mystic and Nissa are still being tested, unsure if I should cut

6/6/19 We now know that EDH will be adopting the London Mulligan Rules, so we can cut back to 34 lands.

After testing, I found that some of the cards in the deck had no impact on the game at all, so they are being replaced for the time being.

Cut:

1 swamp - New mulligan rule allows for a bit more of an aggressive mana base, might replace 2 more lands with ramp (down to 32 lands)

Twilight Prophet - Too slow mid game, useless early game, needs too much setup

Kokusho, the Evening Star - Does not impact the game as much as I hoped and also needed a bit of setup to gain life off it.

Nissa, Steward of Elements - Never does what you need, never is a card you tutor for, never is a card you're happy to draw.

Mystic Remora - Finally made the decision to cut it. My meta plays around it too much, occasionally you get some value but generally it's a wasted mana investment. If your meta does not play around this card too much, keep it in, otherwise replace for a more impactful card. Sad to see it go, but may add it back in if I trim down my land count.

The Eldest Reborn - Same problem as nissa, except it takes too long to get online, yes it can be good, but waiting 3 turns is a bit sub optimal for the deck.

Adds / Tests

Baleful Strix - At 2 mana, this card does a LOT. I am surprised I never tested it before. It deters attacks and draws card and can be cast as an artifact or creature. Super solid addition, will be keeping her in permanently.

Mindslicer - So this card can lock out everyone from doing much of anything, at 4 mana, it is really really good in the deck. Trick with this card is to do it at someones draw step to force them to discard all their cards and hopefully just pass the turn. Most likely will keep it in the deck.

Viscera Seer - Originally in the deck, at 1 cmc, comes down early and if needed can protect vital parts of the deck from eating exile effects. It can help fix your draws when needed, also provides a very good sac outlet (something this deck was lacking in)

Yisan, the Wanderer Bard - Originally he didn't make the cut into the deck, but with the addition of Birthing Pod and more low drops, he is a must. Generally you'd tutor Seer -> Strix -> Selvala -> Mindslicer -> from here on, it is based on the board state and what you need to do, but finishing off with Sheoldred -> Vorinclex is a very solid option. Most likely permanent addition to the deck.

Dance of the Dead - Direct replacement for The Eldest Reborn. Lower cmc, can be a part of the combo and is useful the turn you cast it. Most likely permanently in the deck.

Kaya's Ghostform - The only card in the update that I am unsure about. Being low cmc and protection from kill and exile spells is strong, definitely enchanting Muldrotha, the Gravetide with it. Will be cut if it under performs.

Possible meta calls:

Deathrite Shaman

Scavenging Ooze

Fleshbag Marauder // Merciless Executioner
