Recently, I read Dracula by Bram Stoker and was absolutely enamoured by it. I knew it was a classic, but I didn’t know it would be as phenomenally constructed as it is - reason being, some fiction (like Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen) are classics simply because they are classics, and are not in today's sense “good books”. This is a fun little brew in tribute of Dracula, meant to be fun without being salty or overly powerful. It’s a deck designed for sitting down, playing a game, and really enjoying playing!
STRATEGY:
Play to the curve. Out of the gates, look to immediately set up a strong board with a few creatures or enchantments that will bring cumulative value as the game rolls on and protect you from aggressive decks.
Bring in Lord Dracula! Once he’s on the field, he will give your team of vampires a boost. When he dies, let him come back as the Casket, because the deck is built in a way that can really take advantage of those tokens and the lifelink they come with.
Sustain a play pattern that looks to mix incidental life gain with a slight aristocratic and reanimator style. Death is never the end for Dracula’s gang, so don’t be afraid to make sacrifices for the Master’s goal.
Close out the game with either incremental combat damage or a few big swings, depending on what you draw. Many creatures will have evasive mechanics on them (most commonly flying) to help you win. However, keep in mind that winning isn’t necessarily the goal here. The aim is to have some Dracula-filled Vampire fun, and have a good time with your friends. And that you will!
NOTE: Suggestions are welcome, but keep in mind that this is a budget deck. Please keep all suggestions around $0.25 - $1.50, and suggest cuts along with them!
