It's fun to bash face with big Dragons. But what is not fun is losing at MTG. In the previous standard thats how playing Dragons felt to me. Some games I'd curve out super aggressive and pound face to a dominant win. many games I'd start off slow and the opponent would overwhelm my board while I spent time putting the pieces together. With this deck I feel I have an answer of sorts to these issues.

What's different?

*Instead of just relying on dropping heavy bombs and hoping things line up, here we play a midrange deck that happens to play Dragons.

*Thought Erasure is our primary turn 2 play. This allows us to disrupt our opponents early turn tempo, buying us some time to get everything in order. It also grabs removal, if our opponent is light on removal a turn 2 TE lets us know we can turn up the aggression and power out our Dragons.

*We are maindecking an obvious sideboard card in Ritual of Soot. It is likely that on turn three we have played a Dragon enabler, but in doing so gave our opponent a chance to get ahead on threats. Ritual is perfect for our deck as it cleans up all the turn 1-3 creatures our opponent has played and allows us to start pounding Dragons. I'm expecting RoS to be a big blowout card at the start of the format for this deck.

*Another difference for our deck are the main board copies of The Eldest Reborn. It is just a powerhouse card to give us card advantage. It is also a great protection piece as any Dragons that are sent to the yard can now come back. It also works so well with Thought Erasure and Ritual of Soot.

*The deck also hosts 8 additional pieces of pure removal. This may prove to be a little high, maybe 6 is enough (swapped out for more card draw). The removal varies, but answers a lot of different threats in different ways.

Are the Dragons good enough?

*This may be the real question concerning the deck. Bolas is a stud, but the others all have question marks.

*I believe Verix improves greatly without Heart of Kiran around.

*Demanding Dragon is no Glorybringer, but in this deck it excels. Sacrificing a creature will likely not be a legitimate option with all our removal and sweeper, and if they do The Eldest Reborn can grab it up. It is great to main board 6 force sacrifice effects to battle green.

*Niv-Mizzet is the biggest question mark. Uncounterable is a nice bonus as blue will surely be relevant in this standard. At the worst the opponent lets us draw a card to remove it. We also main deck 8 other ways to draw cards, which equals a lot of incidental damage. 5 toughness is also relevant as it helps keep it out of the distance of much of red's removal.

Overall:

*I'm not expecting this to take over standard or anything but it provides a way to play the powerful Dragon synergies without feeling like you will be facing down really hard games against aggressive decks.

*The deck looks like it will be fun, and with a little tweaking to the support spells could be decently competitive for FNM's and on MTGO.
