The deck centers around tearing apart your opponents hand and then grinding out wins with powerful planeswalkers. Not real complicated. Early turns are for tearing apart the opponents hand and slowing them down. The midgame is cleanup mode where the goal is to stabilize by killing of anything that has stuck to that point or anything the opponent top-decks. Afterwards, our deck plays planeswalkers that will be difficult to remove which eventually will grind out wins.

Discard

1) Thought Erasure
This card gets even more powerful in a format full of planeswalkers. Still as good a turn 2 play as there is in the format.

2) Carnival // Carnage
Carnival is such a sweet card when facing mono-blue, red, white, or Llanowar Elves. If it wants to be fast this card has its uses.
On the flip side Carnage is powerful against slower decks, and now that the format has slowed down some it really hits some major targets.

3) Nicol Bolas, the Ravager
It is a solid flying wincon, besides being a great discard effect. Flipping it is almost win-more, but I have done it a few times to secure a stalled out game.

4) Angrath, the Flame -Chained
It is a slow wincon, but it has won me a fair share of games on the uptick. It is great against controlling decks as you can force them to discard a counter or removal before you play late game spells.
The minus ability is hit or miss, but it is pseudo removal and serves as a wincon against Gates and other decks that play massive creatures.

5) Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage
This looks like one of those cards you play for the sake of synergy, but in the end synergy doesn't really work in standard. It is perfect for a deck like this where you nearly guarantee your opponent will have few cards and you put them on a clock. But you tick it down once and it has 1 loyalty left. The thing dies so easily.

6) Nicol Bolas, Dragon God
Card draw, removal, discard (while not technically discard, it serves the same purpose in this deck) and a wincon. Also does whatever another PW can do, and in this format and in particular with this deck list that is a lot.

7) Disinformation Campaign
Card replacement effect that also forces a discard. A top-decked Thought Erasure holds increased value with this in play.

Creature and Planeswalker Removal

1) Vraska's Contempt
Exiles, gains life, and instant speed both card types is a must.

2) Moment of Craving
More life gain and removal for many troublesome early turn creatures.

3) Bedevil
A cheaper way to deal with both types.

4) Angrath's Rampage
Another card that deals with both types. Also, is a nice bonus to deal with hexproof.

5) Cast Down
*best 2cmc removal we have available. I find the legendary clause less restrictive than the drawbacks of Lava Coil.

Mass Removal

1) Cry for the Carnarium
Exile removal to hold back pure aggro threats.

2) Ritual of Soot
I feel like in most situations I just need to make it to the midgame, and if I can just take care of all creatures that hit on turns 1-3 that may be enough.

Card Draw

1) Karn, Scion of Urza
I have just found that Karn is amazing card draw that is the energizer bunny of the format. Karn hits and ticks up, and opponents just don't want to waste turns trying to kill the loyalty behemoth.

2) Thief of Sanity
It dies to our mass removal, but it is still worth it. the deck does not play that much mass removal and Thief has too much upside to not see some inclusion.

3) Ugin, the ineffable
2/2 tokens that draw you cards once they die (much like Liliana Dreadhorde). I like the upside of being able to destroy planeswalkers more than killing two creatures. I think. Arena best of 1 is full of creature decks so this will tell over time.
