To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
Pre-courser:
*I have been ripping up best of 1 for close to a month playing Jund Embercleave. The deck is just silly. I lost track of my record when the deck was at 21-8. I've played probably another 10 games since then, I estimate I went 7-3, but this could be off by a game either way in the win column since I wasn't really paying close attention at the time. I feel I have played enough games to say that at Gold and Platinum, the deck wins at close to a 2:1 clip. That's pretty good, especially when you factor in that you win a lot of games by turn 5. Great for climbing the ladder fast
*I feel I have the deck dialed in to where it needs to be for the meta. The last question I have is whether Pelt Collector should be swapped for a mana accelerator. If you don't have Pelt Collector turn 1 it is fairly dead, so no loss there for the Goose and getting a Pelt Collector bounced is not a good time at all (happening more often with the popularity of U/x flash decks.)
So what tech do I want to test out next:
1) Turn 1 mana accelerator.
Playing any card with 0 power is against my personal code of aggro, however the deck wants to accelerate.
Arboreal Grazer is solid since the acceleration is permanent and leaves a body, however it doesn't provide more mana, simply gets it out faster.
Gilded Goose gets us to the big boys on turn 2.
Even if it doesn't deal damage, it can still attack to reduce the cost of Embercleave.
*This has to replace Pelt Collector, which is big shoes to fill in a lot of games. Once the Goose honks once, it is pretty useless most games.
2) Rimrock Knight
*I'm probably a little stupid for not playing this already. I played Rix-Maadi Reveler in this slot for the card draw. The thinking was Rotting Regisaur forces us to discard, so Rix-Maadi is a solid midgame play to draw three. I can say with experience Rix-Maadi is weak in the deck.
The other cards:
3) Questing Beast (best Embercleave target and usually curves perfectly into it)
4) Paradise Druid (best card to get Questing Beast ahead of curve)
5) Rotting Regisaur (suited up has to be answered or it's game over. Turn 2 Regisaur is a scary sight.)
6) Gruul Spellbreaker (even better now that it can drop turn 2 with haste. Heavy beats.)
7) Boncrusher Giant // Stomp (big body that is even more important as burn)
8) Thrash // Threat (access to another big body while mainly being excellent removal).
9) Collision // Colossus (kills an occasional big flyer, great with Embercleave or Regisaur.)
10) Skarrgan Hellkite (top end finisher, has won me a lot of games)
Thoughts before testing:
I'm interested to see how big a role Gilded Goose plays. Pelt Collector was good for about 5 damage a game or to draw out removal. The Goose is not likely to see any removal outside of turn 2 Shock on the draw. I want to see how much deadlier the deck is with turn 2 Rotting Regisaur or Gruul Spellbreaker.
The other side to Goose is that it can be held up until turn three and paired with Paradise Druid. Makes for a much easier time casting Questing Beast early or going all-in with Skarrgan Hellkite turn three.
*Rimrock Knight just looks like the right 2cmc alternate choice. The goal is to either play Paradise Druid turn 2 or skip to 3cmc with Goose. Rimrock is the perfect card to skip over on the curve since its main utiliity is Boulder Rush anyway. It makes for quite a combo with Embercleave. Nice before combat trick with Thrash to pump to kill something big and then attack in.
