Black Knight Devotion (Arena best of 1 with card breakdowns) (Standard)

Deck Strategy:

*Build up a board presence of Knights and take advantage of Smitten Swordmaster and Gray Merchant.

*The deck can get in for a fair amount of damage early on, which gives the deck aggressive possibilities, however the goal is to grind your way to a win where you get in for damage when you can and then win by draining the opponents life in a stalled board state.

Decks Construction:

*The deck plays 23 Knights, enough to efficiently trigger Smitten Swordmaster.

*In a stalled board it is very likely to have enough devotion to finish a game with Gary.

*The deck has 12 ways to draw cards: Profane Insight, Treacherous Blessing, Midnight Reaper, Ayara, Rankle, and Castle Locthwain. It also runs Altar Fate, Witch's Cottage, and Cavalier of Night as ways to replay creatures.

*The deck is packing 8 straight creature removal spells, while also having 9 deathtouch creatures. Rankle also provides a forced sacrifice.

*Many spells and abilities in the deck cost life, however the deck is playing a lot of ways to also gain life therefore balancing it out.

Expectations:

*I have played a similar Knights deck in the past and have had decent results. This deck has improved removal and adding Gary raises the decks ability to end games out of nowhere.

*There may be a version of this deck that splashes green for Vraska and plays Find // Finality that may be more powerful. It would not change much in the way of deck construction either.

Updates:

*In constructing the deck I was focused on creating a mono black Knight deck and narrowed my searches to exclude non-black cards. This kept Deathless Knight out of my mind. Deathless Knight has some powerful synergies since it is brought back to hand very easily, can attack with haste (providing the deck with a little extra punch), provides 4 devotion for Gary, and most importantly is a Knight. I still believe playing Rankle is important for all it offers, however Deathless Knight is very powerful in this strategy.
-It is very possible that running a full set of Deathless Knight is vital to the success of this deck, it just has so much value and synergy. I'm not sure where to make the cut, however I'd like to test it as a 4 of removing either Rankle or Foulmire Knight, just to see which plays out better.
