To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
I play EDH on MTGO and I rent my decks. I get 100 tixs worth of cards at a given time, so I try to build decks that reflect that. I own some of the staples to help beef up the decks (Ancient Tomb for example).
I started out trying to build The Scarab God aristocrats. My end result was 5 total cards with blue in the casting cost. The deck looked decent, but the blue was hardly worth it. So I went looking on EDHREC for a suitable mono black replacement commander. Nothing that substituted in, until I remembered my old buddy Balthor. The deck doesn't need him in any way to do its thing, but boy is he a backup plan.
The play style of the deck is pretty basic aristocrats. The deck is full of value creatures (many are removal, other are card advantage or some other benefit). The deck plays a load of sac outlets to double up on the usefulness of these creatures and to also take advantage of die triggers. There are a few drain effects in the deck to do a slow drain on my opponents, but really I'm the win through attrition (not the card by the same name).
