To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!
Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.
The Main Deck
Creatures:
Knight of the White Orchid x4
-Amazing if you are on the draw. Let's you ramp a turn and is a solid 2/2 w/ first strike.
-Sided out game 2/3 if you are on the play.
Sin Prodder x3
-Great card draw engine. A 3/2 body with Menace is very solid in the early game.
Blessed Spirits x3
-I wanted an early game flyer and this is the best available.
-We play 10 enchantments, it is going to be very common for this thing to get multiple counters.
Thunderbreak Regent x4
-This card is so great. 4/4 flyer for 4 is always welcomed, plus they lose 3 life to remove it.
Archangel of Tithes x4
-Gives your opponent fits having to leave mana open or use it up on this.
-Makes the mana base difficult for the deck. This card made me keep the deck 2 color instead of splashing blue for Ojutai. Still worth it
Archangel Avacyn
-The tricks and the power of this card is pretty broken. Also, if you get it to flip there is very little in your deck in danger and then you can play your second Avacyn.
Linvala
-The deck is slow to develop and we are certainly going to be behind in most games before it turns in our favor in stage 2. Linvala lets me gain back enough life to be comfortable and against most other decks in the format will give me the token.
-I do not want to play 2 of these at 6cc. I considered playing this one in the side and playing x4 Avacyn main, but I think this is the better mix.
Non-creature Main:
Silkwrap x2
-Still a solid play. Not as important as it was in the other standard with Abzan and some other decks that were around.
Stasis Snare x4
-Instant speed catch all. Instant speed is very important so we can leave mana untapped early but still play our creature turn 4.
Declaration in Stone x3
-I like that it wrecks your opponent if they play multiples and it catches everything. Worth giving up the clue token, however I'm playing more enchantment removal for Blessed Spirits.
Dragon Tempest x2
-Give haste to all your midrange creatures is worth a two of.
-Not a great top deck late and you do not want to see multiples, so i play two.
Always Watching x2
-Very good in this deck. Mainly it puts the midgame creatures out of reach of Languish and Grasp of Darkness. Vigilance for Archangel of Tithes is amazing and totally wrecks your opponent.
The Sideboard:
Celestial Flare x2
-They're mainly for Ojutai.
Consul's Lieutenant x4
-Most used of all the sideboard cards, comes in every game that you are on the play for Knight of the white Orchid.
Hallowed Moonlight x2
-For collected Company and graveyard/zombie decks.
-May need to be a 3 of with the outlook of the shaping meta
-Side out Dragon Tempest to get this in vs Collected Company decks. I'd probably side out a Linvala and an Avacyn vs Zombies/reanimator to get a little faster.
Kozilek's Return x4
-I'm hoping this can combat Humans decks. Really I'd like to be playing Radiant Flames, however that would make it too hard to play Archangel of Tithes. Hopefully Tithes itself makes up the difference against Humans.
-To get this in I'd cut Dragon Tempest and Always Watching
Quarantine Field x1
-good card against midrange decks.
-flyers can help big time with killing planeswalkers, however I want one of these available.
Roast x2
-For any deck that Silkwrap is a weak card, I'd say midrange decks and B/W Eldrazi. If Reality Smasher becomes a staple Roast would be a good defence for that.
*I may remove these and put the fourth Declaration in Stone in and add an extra Quarantine Field.
Land base:
-Nothing too complicated.
-Playing 14 red sources which should be lots. We do not need red before turn 3 and double red until turn 4.
Deck Overview/Conclusions:
Strengths
-All the evasion will make this deck so hard to block.
-Creatures will often be buffed out of range of the formats sweepers.
-All the cards of the deck are so strong on their own (except for Dragon Tempest, although has great synergy here).
-Exile removal is going to be very important in this standard with cards like Kolaghan's Command, Ojutai's Command, Necromantic Summons, Liliana, Zombies in the format.
Weaknesses
-Rough time if any enchantment based deck gains steam.
-Extremely fast aggo decks may run this deck over if they tend to have more than two toughness.
-Another consideration is splashing green just so I can play Dromoka's Command, put a Dragonlord Dromoka in the side, and play Radiant Flames over Kozilek's Return as it will do more vs pumped Humans and Bant Company.
Deck Edit 1-
Added x2 Chandra to the sideboard in place of roast. The addition is for games against midrange decks. We already have cards that can do what roast does. Chandra can completely change the way our opponent has to play against us.
