This is a deck for play with a custom Commander named Ellen, Legacy Warden, which reads
Ellen, Legacy Warden 5WB
Legendary Creature - Spirit Advisor
This creature has flying and vigilance as long as it’s named Ellen, Legacy Warden.
Inheritance, inheritance
5/5
Inheritance is a custom ability, created by someone I know, with very complex rules (mutate would pale in comparison), rules that I have written down in the best formalism I could come with. That shit is so complex I had to change rule 613.7 on timestamps to add 2 items.
Enjoy (and please forgive me, Inheritance is the name of a card, yes).
702.667 Inheritance
• 702.667a Inheritance is a triggered ability. Inheritance means "When this creature dies, exile it, then put a token that's a copy of it under target creature, except it doesn't have this ability or any of this creature's characteristic defining abilities. They become the creature on top plus all abilities from under it."
• 702.667b As an Inheritance ability begins resolving, if its target is illegal, it doesn't resolve. No token is created.
• 702.667c As an Inheritance ability resolves, if its target is legal, the token doesn't enter the battlefield. Rather, it merges with the target creature and becomes one object represented by more than one card or token (see rule 721, “Merging with Permanents”). The resulting permanent is a heir permanent. The token is an inherited token.
• 702.667d A heir permanent has all abilities of each card and token that represents it. Its other characteristics are derived from the topmost card or token.
• 702.667e A card (Ellen, Legacy Warden) has two Inheritance abilities. The tokens created by those abilities each have Inheritance and Ellen, Legacy Warden's other abilities. If any creature with several Inheritance abilities dies, each token created by those abilities will have as much Inheritance abilities minus one. This may allow to have any creature getting one or more Inheritance abilities.
• 702.667f Despite being part of the same object (the heir creature), each inherited token has its own separate timestamp. This is an exception to rules 613.7a and d.
• 702.667g If an inherited token is a copy of a creature with separated timestamps (as produced by rule 702.667f), the continuous effects its static abilities generate also have separated timestamps, ordered in the same way as the timestamps they had on the previous creature. This is an exception to rules 613.7a, d and m
• 613.7m An inherited token (as created by an Inheritance ability, see rule 702.667) receives a timestamp as it's put under a heir permanent. This contradicts and takes precedence over rules 613.7a and d.
• 613.7n If an inherited token is a copy of a permanent which was itself merged with an inherited token, continuous effects generated by this token receive separate timestamps, ordered the same way as they were on the previous permanent. This contradicts and takes precedence over rules 613.7a, d and m.
If the purpose of the deck isn't clear now, that's simple : You want to use Ellen's Inheritance triggers to have a creature have 3 or more Inheritance abilities (either by sacrificing Ellen several times or with shortcuts such as Teysa Karlov). Then sacrificing that creature will give an increasing number of Inheritance abilities and thus allow the other abilities to duplicate exponentially. In the end, you want to cumulate the abilities of creatures like Zulaport Cutthroat and/or creatures with Afterlife.
