F.U.N. (EDH / Commander)

As stupid as it way sound the premise behind this deck came from my dislike of how EDH in my area has evolved. We went from fun games with big plays and a lot of fun interaction to pure combo pods that didn't so much as look at each other. Sure we have the off deck that works like a normal EDH deck but a vast majority are just combo decks. This got me thinking to back when I ran a Video Game store that also ran MtG tournaments and casual events. We didn't do much with Standard and Draft but we had a great group of EDH players that would play every week and that would have a lot of fun. I would play with them and eventually the group grew as players and we got stronger and stronger decks. I was to inexperienced at the time to notice that the power level of our decks was driving newer players away from not only the format we loved but also the game in general. After a few years I ended up leaving the store and it shut down. I never lost that feeling of fun and amazement I felt as we played those first few months of EDH. After some deck teching and talking with my play group we decided to bring back the old way of playing the format we all love and hold dear. These Casual Commanders are meant to be a throwback to the old days of fun and player interaction. As a former MtG event host I feel like I could have been much better to my newer players in terms of the decks I played. I feel like this deck, even with it's ability to go wild, sticks to the principal of the format as a whole and would be a great way for shop keepers and store owners who play EDH to interact with their players and keep business coming in by showing players you care about them having fun just as much, if not more, than making money off of them. After all MtG and EDH wouldn't be around if it wasn't for our players and their love of this game. I implore you to share this deck with anyone you feel could use this to better help their player base. If you have an event runner who doesn't know where to start with EDH but wants to not be a jerk with a deck, show them this list and see if it strikes their fancy. I also tried to include a few great cards from the Commander sealed products to help showcase how they can be used in a deck that isn't right out of the box. I found that this helps pull newer players into the format since it shows them that these cards from the sealed product can have longevity and aren't just for facing other "out of the box" decks similar to how the intro decks are. I just hope that this list can help more people bring new players to this amazing game and format and I thank you for taking your time to read my message about this deck and it's meaning to me as a player. Now onto my explanation of what the deck does in practice:

As some may have noticed I named the deck after this very concept of Friends being Friends. Using the acronym F.U.N. from SpongeBob Squarepants.

F. Friends who do stuff together
U. You and me
N. Anywhere and anytime at all

The vast majority of this deck goes along with this idea in mind being a Group Hug deck that makes everyone's day just a little bit better by drawing cards and playing more lands. The only thing better than playing MtG is playing more MtG. As an EDH player I do know that at some point a winner will need to arise. At this point in time comes the second part of our philosophy:

F. Fire that burns down the whole town
U. Uranium... Bombs
N. No survivors

Most of the win conditions of the deck are creature based to make games more interactive. I love the card Blade of Selves and that is why a lot of the creatures in the deck work with this amazing Equipment card. I did give is deck a Wishboard package that lets you combo off if you feel like the players you are up against are okay with such a victory plan. I strictly avoided infinite combos and, unless required for overall gameplay fairness, will never use Cataclysmic Gearhulk with the Blade of Selves and will never aim Acidic Slime at Lands. Just remember that the idea behind this deck is to be fun and fair. Don't be a jerk, just be a fun and fair player!
