Everybody loves cheap creatures with high power/toughness to crush your opponents with but there is always drawbacks with those types of cards. For example, Plague Belcher is a 5/4 costing 3 total mana which sounds pretty good but it has an effect that makes you put down two -1/-1 counters on one of your creatures. So if you played Plague Belcher by itself you would have no other choice but to put the -1/-1 on it making your tank a wimp. But what if you had another creature to take the -1/-1 counters? Its true that it will make the other creature weaker, buttttttttttttt thats what we are looking for. Soulstinger is a perfect target for your -1/-1 counters because of his ability. Not only are you dumping your -1/-1 counters on another creature making the creature your casting retain its strength, you are also making a threat that your opponent will have to deal with most creatures wont be able to survive having five -1/-1 counters on it. But if they do somehow survive they will be critically weakened allowing you to sweep in and finish them off. Tree of Perdition is also a great target for -1/-1 counters not only because of its high toughness but also because of its effect making yet another treat for your oponent. Imagine casting Exemplar of Strength and putting all those -1/-1 counters on Tree of Perdition then casting Grasp of Darkness on it as well , then activating its ability. BOOM your opponents health gets put in the red zone allowing you to swoop in and try and get the kill. Even if your opponent tries to get rid of it with removal, you will be able to activate the tree's ability in response and still cripple your opponent. There are also many other combos you can do as well.
Cast Nest of Scarabs - Gets tons of 1/1 insects - use them as fodder for your -1/-1 counters. Not only will you have alot of chump blockers but your creatures with the -1/-1/ effect will retain there full power making them cheap and strong.
Cast Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons - Gets tons of 1/1 snakes with deathtouch - use them as fodder for your -1/-1 counters. Not only will you have alot of chump blockers WITH DEATHTOUCH but your creatures with the -1/-1/ effect will retain there full power making them cheap and strong.
Cast Decimator Beetle - attack with him. Because of his ability your will be able to fling those pesky -1/-1 counters off your creatures and put them on your opponents cretures making your -1/-1 creature ablity's more of a blessing then a drawback.
Cast Defiant Greatmaw - use him as fodder and put all of your -1/-1 counters on him. It will allow your creatures to come on the battle field with there full strength. But if you were forced to put the -1/-1 counters on a creature that you didnt want to have them on. Defiant Greatmaw's effect will take the counters off your creatures.
There are also many other combos you can do as well.
I put in Cartouche of Ambition in because of the lifelink. It might take a while to but your combos together so gaining life while your set up your combos is a good thing to have.
I put in Rhonas the Indomitable because he is a 3 mana 5/5 creature that you will be able to attack with 9 times outta 10. but he is also a good target for your -1/-1 counters.
Removal is always a good thing to have. If your opponent has a 99/99 creature how would you get rid of it? Use Never///Return. Not only will you get rid of threats, but you will also get a 2/2 zombie which can be used as a chump blocker or fodder for your -1/-1 counters.
Weaken your opponents by flinging -1/-1 counters at them. Then finish them off with mighty creatures with high power/toughness
