Modern Fruity Pebbles 2020 (Modern)

This is my 2020 take on SafronOlives Fruity Pebbles deck from 2017.

Modern gained lots of new cheap cards to build decks on a budget.

First of all: The Combo.

The goal is to get Enduring Renewal and either Grinding Station or Blasting Station on the board while also having a 0 cost artifact creature such as Ornithopter or Memnite in our hand or on the battlefield. You can then sac them infinite times to the stations to instantly kill the opponent.

The Digging:

To find our combo pieces, a lot of good cards where added to Modern in the past year.

Opt is a 1 mana dig 2 cards deep spell, that can be cast at instant speed. The instant speed factor is crucial, because it allowes us to keep mana leak up on turn 2.

Omen of the Sea was given to us with the most recent set Theros Beyond Death. It's a two mana instant speed Preordain with the ability to scry again later in the game. This gives us so much digging potential!

Serum Visions is just a Modern digging allstar. I've also thought about using Anticipate instead, because of the instant speed option. But that would leave us without relevant turn 1 plays.

The Protection:

Detention Sphere helps getting rid of planeswalkers. Since they became more relevant in the past year, we might be increasing the number of spheres played.

Mana Leak: This is the basic turn 2 play. Keep Mana Leak up and then decide if you want to counter their spell or dig for combo pieces.

Condemn: While not as good as Path to Exile, it helps dealing with Death's Shadows and other creatures. We don't really care about life totals, becaus we want to go infinite anyways.

Shatter the Sky: THB gave us a super cheap Wrath of God! 4 cmc Wrath effects are so much better than the 5 mana ones. We don't really care about our opponent drawing a card either. And again: Those are super cheap at the moment (I got mine for 0,60 € each in paper).

The Sideboard:

First of all we need answers to stuff that just hates us out. Against Assassin's Trophy we can use Dispels. There is not much we can do against Abrupt Decay though.
Against Rest in Peace and other graveyard hate, we board in Disenchant. Works against Stony Silence as well!

Negate and Dispel help us win Counterspell wars.

Another Shatter the Sky helps us against aggro matchups.

Relic of Progenitus is your standard way to deal with graveyard decks.

Damping Sphere vs Tron and Storm.

Rest for the Weary improves our Burn Matchup.
