Edric, Spitemaster of Trest (EDH / Commander)

C-c-c-combo breaker! The Spitemaster is adept at stopping all but the fastest of combo decks. Deploy your forces as early as you can, then hunker down for the mid game with counter magic. Counter only the cards that will directly affect you, as an uncoordinated group will often use resources against each other to utilize Edric's ability. With your Edric engine running, keeping a stocked hand, while a necessity, will be quite easy to accomplish. Once you draw a finisher, try to end the game quickly, as you will be prioritized to be eliminated. All of the finishers for the deck require a board with some amount of creatures on your side, the more the better, so make sure to avoid wraths as much as possible.

The finishers for the deck are:
Beastmaster Ascension - With a board of small, evasive creatures, a sudden shift to dragon-sized monsters has a tendency of ending opponents quite quickly. Be sure to play if you can activate it on the same turn it comes down, as it rarely stays on the table for a full turn. Keeping a counter spell available to prevent its destruction is also advised.

Triumph of the Hordes - Second verse, same as the first, except with a near-guarantee that five creatures is enough to kill a player.

Words of Wind - The most tempo-like of the win cons, as it works best early game and when the opponents' board is resource light. Aluren with this card is both a combo and a non-bo, depending on what your opponents have for creatures. The goal is to bounce your creatures in exchange for your opponents' lands.

Mana Vortex / Sunder (+ Burgeoning / Exploration / Cyclonic Rift) - A game reset, but with your advantage.
