Vaevictis, the Random Commander (EDH / Commander)

To play your deck at an official ("DCI-sanctioned") tournament you need a deck registration sheet. Here you can download such a sheet pre-filled with the cards in this deck!

(-> Your Settings)

Please note: This is not an official DCI service. So please always make extra sure that the sheet contains all the cards in your deck and fulfils all DCI requirements. If you notice anything wrong, please let us know. DCI is a trademark of of Wizards of the Coast LLC.

He is not Chaos Warp.

I really needed to get that out of the way. Literally everyone I have shown this deck to has said that he is Chaos Warp on a creature (I really do mean everyone). The reason why he is not like Chaos Warp, is that you can play with the sacrifice triggers and top-deck manipulation.

Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire was a hard commander to make (suggestions are welcome). I challenged myself to make a deck with only permanents (with one exception, explained below). This means that the removal package is kinda weak. Even though a lot of it is activated at instant speed, your opponents will see it coming. Vaevictis is also a huge target for removal, so he needs a lot of protection.

You'll also notice Primal Surge. Because there are no other instants or sorceries, you can very well dump out the whole deck (TIP: don't do that). If you cast Primal Surge before combat, you can win with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Combat Celebrant. If you cast it after combat, you'll need to play and destroy Ugin's Nexus (Seal of Primordium or Manglehorn will do the trick) to get an extra turn. For those who don't know the combo: Kiki-Jiki makes a copy of Combat Celebrant. The copy attacks and exerts, untaping Kiki-Jiki, and giving an extra combat step. At the end of this combat step, make another copy of Combat Celebrant. That new copy can attack and exert (untap Kiki-Jiki) as well. Keep looping until all opponents are at 0 life.

There are a lot of ways to build Vaevictis. I'll probably do superfriends next.
