Deep in the concealed courtyards of the Old City, you've heard lies a greenhouse the size of a city block. You can see the vast mass of grassy glass that lies at the edge of an abandoned suburban community, left to be reclaimed by the sunlit groves once the city moved south. Surrounding it are overgrown graves and gruesome ghouls, grim reminders of those who came before you. And now you stand on the step of the grisly greenhouse, sweating and wary of every patch of mold, every mushroom, every overturned flowerpot.
You consult your field guide, granted to you by your grizzled granduncle. It contains graphic depictions of gruesome specimens like the Swarm Shambler and Moss-Pit Skeleton, staggering about as the Corpsejack Menace grows ever more grit and gristle. It tells of a curious Chord of Calling that carries with it the bloodcurdling cry of a Phytohydra or Mycoloth. It bewares of a Sterling Grove, and how the botanical beasts there beget a Sunbond, and beset upon boorish burglars with Unflinching Courage, the Anointed Procession of their Growing Ranks ever boosted by a bygone brandish known as the Helm of the Host, especially during Doubling Season. And you can see with your own eyes the many saprolings that wander the area, denoting the presence of several Utopia Mycon.
Into this greenhouse you go, grateful that the rumors of Mold Adders and Deathspore Thallids seem to be just that, and that the Gift of Orzhova has yet to reach this place. Overhead you expect to see a Vulturous Zombie, and are relieved that they seem to be tucked away, uninterested in those on the ground. As you walk along, you feel a tinge of Reborn Hope that you might find out why your granduncle disappeared before you hear a hissing behind you and the world suddenly smells of flowers. What a grisly way to go.
