With Holdout Settlement and Survivors' Encampment, there is absolutely no reason to play a single color convoke deck. One thing I've noticed with convoke is that if your fast mana creatures get got, it's very hard to cast larger spells, so i've focused on deploying as many 3/3 and 3/4 creatures as possible. Sprout Swarm and Stonybrook Schoolmaster also give you a very strong go wide strategy that is bolstered with Rally the Peasants, and Travel Preparations is just good tech that will make all your dudes a lot bigger for a low cost.

I've found that convoke decks really benefit from having 2ish one mana creatures that can come down early (or late) and help pay for convoke costs. Jungle Delver or Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant are the ones I think would be most useful. Jungle Delver is a green creature that will also gain you life as a merfolk thanks to judge of currents, but I think the Soul Sisters will better benefit you over the long game.
