This deck is from our new podcast Mull to 3, Episode 8 'Mill to 3' (https://www.spreaker.com/user/mullto3/episode-8-mill-to-3) posted on the 15th of August 2017.

Based off the Legacy deck of the fusion of Eldrazi and DnT, Modern BW Eldrazi and Taxes aims to tax the opponent via the combo of Leonin Arbiter + Ghost Quarter and utilizing Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. It then uses cards like Thought-Knot Seer and Flickerwisp to finish off a obstructed opponent.

As with Legacy Death and Taxes, Aether Vial is the key to the deck. Giving creatures such as Flickerwisp the ability to be "played" at instant speed opens up many more lines of play and ways to interact with your opponent. This modern version especially abuses this with cards like Thought-Knot Seer and Tidehollow Sculler. Being able to take their best card during their draw step is a key line of play.

What made this deck fun to play was the increases ability to "flicker" creatures. On top of the 4 Flickerwisps, the deck plays 4 Eldrazi Displacers. This card turned out to be the key card in most matchups throughout the night. With Modern being much more permanent based than legacy (where Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is much more important). Combos with Eldrazi Displacer include:

The deck is a blast to play, but can lead to some very confusing board states. Not an easy deck to master for those unfamiliar to Aether Vial shenanigans.
