Ok, so I got the idea that I will make a deck based on a completely random card. I will go onto Gatherer, press the Random Card button, then built a deck based solely around that card. It can be Pauper to Vintage, and anything in between. So, here we go!

Stromglad Cabal

Well, first thing that pops to mind is to build a black deck, and hope that you play against a white one. The second thing that pops to mind is a Painter's Servant type deck, that punishes white. This, of course is a much better idea. Other cards include Purelace and Eight-and-a-Half-Tails. Of course, there are also cards like Mind Bend and Whim of Volrath to be considered, but I don't feel like going into a three-colored deck, so let's take a quick Scryfall search into which color has more.

Blue: Alter Reality, Crystal Spray, Glamerdye, Mind Bend, Sleight of Mind, Spectral Shift, Trait Doctoring, and Swirl of Mists

White: Aurora Griffin, Cloudchaser Kestrel, Eight-and-a-Half-Tails, Niveous Wisps, and Purelace, and Celestial Dawn

Colorless: Painter's Servant

Ok, so blue obviously has more, and cards like Sleight of Mind and Swirl of Mists can permanently change the text on Stromglad Cabal to whatever color your opponents are playing. We have enough white cards to make it work, but I think we'll stick to blue. So which ones are the best? obviously the cheapest, the most versatile ones (do more than just change the color of a spell) and the ones that we only have to use once. So:

Alter Reality: permanently changes text on the Stromgald Cabal so that we only have to use it once, and has flashback in case we need to change the color or if we get out another Stromglald Cabal. (ok, it's becoming kind of annoying having to write Stromgald Cabal every single time, so from now on I will just call him Grumpy) [YES]

Glamerdye: like Alter Reality, but has retrace instead of flashback [YES]

Mind bend: doesn't have retrace or flashback, but costs only one mana. [YES]

Sleight of Mind: Does exactly what Mindbend does. [YES]

Spectral Shift: It doesn't have retrace or flashback, so we can only use it once. Sure, it has another ability, but I don't think we will ever use that. [NO]

Trait Doctoring: It's not permanent, but we will possibly use it as much as we want. I don't really think that this is going to be a creature dominant deck, so I just think there are better options. [NO]

Whim of Volrath: It's like mind bend, but it's not permanent. So, it's a no, right? Not so fast! For just 2 extra mana, we can buy it back, and potentially use it as many times as we want! We already have a ton of good changers, so I'm not sure about this one. [MAYBE]

Painter's Servant: duh. [YES]

Swirl of Mists: It's a fun combo card, but it's a bit expensive, and not really the effect we're looking for.

Ok, well, it looks like we got our combo base. Now we just need to make sure we draw our combo pieces. Lucky for us, we are playing b/u. That's not going to be awfully hard.

Night's Whisper: losing two life is almost nothing for two cards.

Demonic Tutor: I would use Vampiric Tutor, but between the Night's Whisper and Grumpy himself, I don't think we can afford any more life-loss.

Impulse: I play this card a lot, and it is beyond useful, even better than Brainstorm, since you get to put the useless cards on the bottom.

Ok, so what if they play a creature before we can counter it? We need disruption! Once again, welcome to b/u

Doom Blade: Extremely efficient removal, especially with the rest of the cards in our deck.

Counterspell: They play something good before we can find Grumpy? NOPE.

Ok, so, we stop our opponent from casting anything. Now what? How will we win? Just drop a Grave Titan.

whelp, there we go. I might play the deck just because it's fun. I'll post here how it went, (probably not very good). All in all, this was a lot of fun, and I'll probably do it again!
