[Standard] BW Legends
« on: May 31, 2018, 02:17:22 pm »
https://deckstats.net/decks/107983/1005223-bw-legends

The aim of this deck is to use Sram, Senior Edificer and Board the Weatherlight to easily get through my deck and build up a board of legends. I can then buff Benalish Honor Guard using On Serra's Wings (which will allow Benalish's ability to trigger off of itself) and all other legends on the board. Arvad the Cursed and Urza's Ruinous Blast are both great ways to finish off games and aren't too hard to find using Board the Weatherlight.

I'm attempting to keep the deck BW, but still think keeping a single Shalai, Voice of Plenty for only the hexproof is a good idea. I don't have Mox Amber included as I want to keep the price lower before getting it in my hands to test more. Any suggestions are encouraged and I'd love any ideas for sideboarding.

I thought this template might help. It's a midrange approach to your deck, that focuses on control early game with some late-game threats. I haven't included land but around 24-5 should suffice. (Unclaimed Territory/ Isolated Chapel...)

I included Heart of Kiran which is inexpensive and has vigilance (important for against Seal Away, includes your Legendary prerequisite.
Legion's Landing is a nice one drop that can slow down your opponent early and help you ramp later on.

Gideon will trigger historic and can help slow down your opponent. (It's not too expensive)

Radiant Destiny - Naming Legendary will help you crew Heart of Kiran, and create threats mid-late game.

Hope this gives you some ideas.  :)

//Spells
3 Board the Weatherlight
2 Gideon of the Trials
3 Heart of Kiran
3 Legion's Landing
2 Radiant Destiny
3 Settle the Wreckage

//Creatures

1 Bontu the Glorified
2 Gonti, Lord of Luxury
3 Kambal, Consul of Allocation

2 Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle
3 Yahenni, Undying Partisan

//Sideboard

I'll definitely give some of these changes a go. I had considered Radiant Destiny and Unclaimed Territory before, but I didn't think the Legendary supertype worked as a creature type. If that's the case, it might still be good to include and name Humans as my current iteration would still benefit on most creatures that way. Thanks for the suggestions!

Revision 10

Added/removed cards:
-1 Shalai, Voice of Plenty
+1 Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle

Changed amounts:
+1 Kambal, Consul of Allocation
-1 Sram, Senior Edificer

Going to use Teshar in case I lose some steam late game. Moved Sram down one and Kambal up one to try and get both early with less chance of repeat draws too soon.

So I made a mistake, legendary is a supertype and not a creature type. There used to be a creature type summon legend but that is now obsolete. My apologies. If you could make it work with humans, I hope it helps in that case.
