Zombies Never DieThought that Zombies are
dead in GRN standard? But wait, zombies never die. They have returned! Its
alive!
Been playing this deck for the past week and its so much fun to play. Not only is this a tribal deck with flavour, it can be aggro, has reach, tutors/digging, card draw, recursion, removals, life gain and last the late game.
Main deck focus on milling ourselves with
Stitcher's Supplier and
Liliana, Untouched by Death so to power up
Mausoleum Secrets, to search almost anything we want. Or just beat face with zombies and lords.
Early Game:
Turn 1
Diregraf Ghoul into Turn 2 Graveyard Marshall into Turn 3
Death Baron into Turn 4
Liliana, Untouched by Death is very aggressive. Otherwise, if we are against other hyper-aggressive deck, we just block and survive till late game.
Mid Game:
Liliana, Untouched by Death shines here. She can kill, mill, gain life to get us there to the late game. She can even have reach if we need that last points of damage.
Midnight Reaper gets us more gas and we do not mind our stuff dying.
Late Game:
This is where we can actually shine here. Especially with
Cabal Stronghold out, that much mana can either kick
Josu Vess, Lich Knight or immediately ultimate liliana to cast zombies from the graveyard. With a stock graveyard,
Mausoleum Secrets can tutor anything from removal to finishers, or that 1-off
Gruesome Menagerie.
Note: We play a lot of 1-off in Game 1 due to the power of
Mausoleum Secrets. Sometimes with 3 creatures, we can just search up for
Death Baron to pump our team, or give death touch to push through stompy. Otherwise, we normally wait for 4/5 creatures in yard to find Liliana as default or any removals. That maindeck
Phyrexian Scriptures can sometimes be back
breaking if there are board stalls to clear board or to remove opponents graveyard.
Sideboard is when things get fun. We actually take out almost all our
Stitcher's Supplier and a few
Mausoleum Secrets and board in cards that are actually for the match up. So we can play a bit more controlling against other creature decks and we can still be aggro against control with back up hand disruption.
I enjoy playing this deck and welcome any suggestions or comments!
