This sounds like extended. Extended is a rotating format like standard, but with a wider range of sets. Currently, everything from Battle for Zendikar onwards is Extended legal.

Is this what you were talking about?

You may need to be a little more clear.  What sets are legal in your new format?  How would a rotation work?
Happy Brewing!

Your description isn't really clear on what exactly the format entails. Maybe with better explanation we could help.

for example aether revolt is the newest set possible is the format right now so you see the season with aether revolt as the newest and then maybe next month it might be battle for zendikar

Oh, I see.

You're starting with the Khans of Tarkir and Kaladesh blocks legal. After a certain amount of time, you will add another block, like the Battle for Zendikar block. After some more time, another block will be added, so on and so forth.

Is this correct?

So essentially it's a random, rotating, one block format?

So I came up with something like this a little while back. I thought it was interesting, but not enough for me to actually try it.

  • Get your group of friends together.
  • Somehow, pick any three blocks. You can throw darts, have a vote, pick them from a hat, doesn't matter.
  • Of the three blocks chosen, you have to make 60 card decks using cards only from those blocks. You're also not allowed to use any cards that are banned in block constructed for that given block.
  • For example, let's say the blocks chosen were Zendikar, Innistrad, and Amonkhet. This means you can only use cards printed in Zendikar, Worldwake, Rise of the Eldrazi, Innistrad, Dark Ascension, Avacyn Restored, Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation. Furthermore, you can't use Lingering Souls or Intangible Virtue, because they are banned in Innistrad block constructed.
  • In one months time, you repeat this whole process, until your group gets bored.
