looking for some advice for building a thantis the warweaver deck

hey guys i really want to build a thantis edh deck. but my question is which strategy is the way to go?

going the defender route (https://edhrec.com/commanders/thantis-the-warweaver-defender-theme) or handing out tokens (http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/eight-armed-arms-dealer/), really need some advice. what are your opinions

/edit: about your question, think about 2 questions:
1. which strategy you like more?
2. which strategy might fit better into your playgroup?
