Deck Reviews / [Casual] Drain and Gain

Drain and Gain

Deck is split into two camps: Creatures that benefit from my gaining life (BBVampire, DFBloodlord, etc) and creatures and cards that gain life (SHMedic, KHealer, FTClan).

This deck is vulnerable early game, particularly to synergistic rush decks. The powerful creatures (DFBloodlord, BBVampire) require a support caste of lower creatures before they can truly start to bring their true weight to the table.

Early on, I don't worry about losing a few NKAssasins, KHealers, or JOffshoots. While they're still relevant late game, they're not game winners. I try and conserve my SHMedics and DEmmisary's as much as possible, as their true purpose is to boost the BBVampires and deal passive damage via DFBloodlord.

Also, I try to remember that this a life gain deck. I can take more hits than usual. If it's a choice between a SHMedic or 7-10 life, I usually just take the hit.

I like to use GReproach early on to keep my opponent from becoming too creature heavy. I also tend to use BSplinters early, since late-game there are few bombs that will be able to beat my BBVampires; I usually target either assasins, or synergistic back-of-house creatures.GReproach is a good way to get around Deathtouch. VVastwood's main purpose is to shield my bombs from my opponent's spells, but they're a nice little damage boost when the opportunity presents itself.

My favorite combo so far involves the DFBloodlord and FTClan. With two DFB and two FTC, I can drop my opponents health by 40 in a single turn for 4 mana.

I've only played a half a dozen games, but I typically end with around 35-45 life.

Appreciate any C&C
