Hi Everyone,

This is my first attempt at a brew. I've been testing it at my LGS lately and have found some success. I would love to hear feedback and am open to any suggestions.

Thanks!

UB Thief

This is a mid-range deck, which aims to assemble the combo of Master of the Feast and Notion Thief. Notion Thief transforms Master of the Feast's drawback into a form of card advantage, putting immense pressure upon the opponent. All of the win conditions are large, evasive, and cheap creatures, which are likely to outclass just about any other creature your opponent runs. If you can stick them and protect them, you will win very quickly.

-Master of the Feast is the primary win condition of this deck. It comes down early, hits hard, and puts your opponent on a four turn clock. Although it can win on its own, when it is combined with Notion Thief it becomes a source of an incredible, recurrent card advantage.

-Notion Thief has two uses: activating the combo with Master of the Feast and spoiling your opponents' card advantage plans. Devastates Sphinx's Revelation or Underworld Connections. If you have this in hand, but not Master, you need to be patient. This card will not win on its own, but in the right situations it is game breaking.

-Disciple of Deceit functions as a tutor to help assemble the combo out of unusable cards. It can also help to find removal if necessary. Your opponent may or may not see it as a threat: If they ignore it, you can rapidly find both Master of the Feast and Notion Thief and take the game over. If they remove it, you've forced them to waste a removal spell on a 2 mana 1/3.

-Nightveil Specter and Desecration Demon are the deck's back up plans. Like Master of the Feast, Nightveil Specter is a solid three drop that puts pressure, (potentially) gives card advantage, and demands a response. It can also be discarded to Disciple of Deceit in order to summon Master of the Feast. Desecration Demon is a killer four drop that can be pitched to find Notion Thief and that, if it does hit the board, puts your opponent in a very precarious place.

-Thoughtseize is a versatile removal spell that can give you valuable information about your opponent's hand and eliminate problems before they arise. There aren't many creatures that threaten you, so the best plan is usually to take out your opponents' removal spells. If you have Master of the Thief but no Notion Thief, Thoughtseize is the next best thing.

-Hero's Downfall is a premium removal spell. Kills almost anything you need killed, no questions asked. It's a bit expensive, but incredibly versatile.

-Far // Away is a flexible removal spell that can be used to 2 for 1 your opponent, build tempo, and even save your own creatures from removal in a pinch. Its two casting costs mean that it can be pitched to Disciple of Deceit in order to tutor for 2 or 3 mana spells, or it can itself be tutored for by 2 or 3 mana spells. This may be useful in a match up against a Hexproof deck.

-Whip of Erebos is a four mana spell that can be used to find Notion Thief, which is extremely valuable in match ups against aggro or in race scenarios. The early game of this deck is a bit weak, so Whip can help you recover from a slow start. The second ability can also come in handy if one of your big demons gets killed.

-Boon of Erebos is an unusual inclusion, but it does a lot of work in this deck. It can serve as a removal spell to help some of the weaker creatures take out an opponent. It's regeneration ability can be used to enable Disciple of Deceit, as well as save your big bad demons from removal.

Sideboard:

-Duress is an auto-include against control and mono-black, as well as a replacement for Thoughtseize against burn.

-Bile Blight can help kill opposing Pack Rats, as well as murder just about anything aggressive, creature based decks can muster.

-Lifebane Zombie is an all-star against anything with Green or White. It's a bit vulnerable to removal, but extremely evasive.

-Doom Blade is ruthless against any non-black, creature-based deck.

-Drown in Sorrow can help you regain tempo against aggressive decks. Nothing in this deck dies to it, so it is almost a one-sided sweeper.

-Negate is a great card to bring in against burn, control or mono black. Save your creatures!

-Staff of the Death Magus is a great card against burn, aggro, or anything that puts pressure on your life count.
