If you can't tell, this was the Neon Dynasty "Buckle Up" precon that I deck-teched up a bit with some cards on hand. The
Ironsoul Enforcer still being in the deck allows me to toss expensive artifacts to Shorikai's early activation discards. (
Parhelion II and/or the
Goblin Firebomb retrieval at key moments have won me many games). Other than
Ironsoul Enforcer, I only have
Dance of the Manse as a means of recovering my
vehicles following a
Vandalblast -esque board wipe.
That said, I can definitely see why you love the
Verge Rangers and they are definitely now on my permanent 'to
acquire' list along with any mana rock I find available for trade. I limit myself to booster popping and in-person player-to-player trading with no single card purchases allowable because it adds a fleamarket-esque metagame element in my returning to MTG after a over a decade-long hiatus.
I started playing with the release of 4th Edition's Starter's Kit and stopped playing in 2006 after the Ravnica sets when I joined the service; returning home in 2011 and finding that my entire collection had been lost was heartbreaking and I'm just now getting back into the game. The new powerscale on cards is crazy! For reference, one of my favorite casual decks I'd play at the local shop was a simple-to-play 40-card Golgari deck (our local group preferred constructed-40 over constructed-60 because a larger variety of deck types got played) built with:
14 Creatures - 4x
Diligent Farmhand; 4x
Elvish Archers; 1x
Elvish Herder; 2x
Kokusho, The Evening Star; 3x
Vampire Bats7 Instants - 4x
Muscle Burst; 3x
Terror5 Enchantments - 3x
Sinister Strength; 2x
Rancor14 Lands - 8x
Forest; 6x
