There definitely is good cause to go into Blue over Green in terms of creature triggers if you're wanting to go Grixis. The deck mostly exists because the SO wanted to build around Wasitora in specific because of the Cat Dragon tokens. I think there's arguments to be made for Grixis, Jund, Temur or Sultai, as really the high concept is broad enough that it can encompass many different color combinations. In my opinion, Red is the most integral color thanks to its ability to grant Double Strike so you're not entirely relying on Colorless options like [[Fireshrieker]] or [[Grappling Hook]]
