General Magic / Re: Planeswalkers rule change

It will open up possibilities. I wanted to make a counter deck with numerous Ajani, but it wouldn't work due to only 1 of them on the battlefield at a time. I want to explore that again now that it is an option to have 3-4 on the board at once.

Oops All Gideons! will be OP now.

Deck Reviews / [Casual] Fire At Will

https://deckstats.net/decks/81091/775798-fire-at-will

Just looking for any suggestions as there are things I might have overlooked or ignored due to price (and might upgrade to at a later point).

The deck is meant for multiplayer, which could decide on suggestions.

> Chandra and the creatures all involve pinging from casting spells or getting reset from spells to set up strategic turns.
> I tried to mainly include spells that can deal 2-3 direct damage to a player. I'm not as concerned about creatures, but do have a few spells to deal with either.
> The ideal combo is to have cards in graveyard to trigger Pyromancer Ascension, cast a Insult // Injury, and go wild with double unpreventable damage. This seems to be where a well timed Flame Rift could really win the game if I pinged everyone low enough.

While not getting the results I had hoped for, I did have a good time playing the deck in 3 matches today (all of which were 6 player free-for-alls).

I did manage to pop Ajani, Caller Of The Pride while a Parallel Lives was out to make 52 2/2 Cats (3/3 and Life Link from Regal Caracal anthem). I was also able to drop a Luminescent Rain for 118 Life after reaching a peak of 59 Cats on the field. Just kept running into too many board wipes and removal of my enchantments/artifacts, but the potential is there. Not sure if I'll make any more tweaks until I see the full Feline Ferocity list.

While not as great as Intangible Virtue, as you give up the Vigilance for an extra +1/+1, I use a few Tempered Steel in my Servo deck. I like it because it can also target Metallic Mimic due to keeping Artifact Creature type.

It's a shame that God-Pharaoh's Gift only brings things back as a Zombie, but only a minor nuisance as Regal Caracal will still gives off it's anthem per copy and Lifelink. Pride Sovereign only cares about other Cats anyways. A board full of Eternalized Adorned Pouncers would be fun, too 8).

I do get where you're coming from with the full playset of Anointed Procession for more tokens. I made a Casual deck with two of them, but that's also because I'm running a couple Mimic Vat's and Mirage Mirror's for copying things when needed. Obviously more freedom in Casual, but can't go wrong with 4x Anointed Procession/Parallel Lives pending the format.

Made some last minute changes before play testing this weekend.

> Swapped in 4 Fortified Village and removed the 4 Blossoming Sands.
> I added a White Sun's Zenith for value in that it can be played numerous times unless exiled, but also to help create larger Pride Sovereign's.
> I added one copy of Ajani, Caller Of The Pride. It's pretty obvious that I want him to -8 for kitten explosion, but his +1 is useful in that it can help buff weaker creatures such as the pre-Embalm/Eternalize creatures. The -3 ability isn't anything to ignore either if I can give a Pride Sovereign Double Strike and Flying to take someone out.

General Magic / Re: Zombie Prices

Hopefully that will make things less stale and see the supply/demand change more frequent. It seems Standard dictates the stock and pricing of every other format, more or less, versus any other.

All fair points - I guess I'll hang tight until Ixalan.

I get that the older cards are generally more expensive due to circulation, demand, etc... but I'm talking more along the lines of cards as recent as Shadows Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon. It seems these were some of the bigger offenders with many cards in the $0.50-$3.00 mark jumping up 200-300%+ in value since Amonkhet.

I imagine I'll have to wait for the Zombie craze to die out. I'll stop with the puns :'(.

I do welcome our new feline overlords, however, and I hope they help beat back Zombies even just a little.

General Magic / Re: Afflict mechanic is the planeswalker killer?

I have a friend with an insane 20 Planeswalker deck. One of the reasons I want to make an Afflict deck, but also because the mechanic forces that awkward choice of trading or getting pounded on for your opponent.

General Magic / Zombie Prices
« on: July 10, 2017, 10:05:23 pm »
With the release Amonkhet there was a rise (from the grave 8)) in popularity of Zombies in Standard. This naturally affected the prices for most of the popular cards and they have been holding steady since (more or less). Kind of has me bummed out as I play Casual and EDH and it has become harder to put a reasonably priced deck together.

Can we expect some of these cards to ever go as low as their pre-Amonkhet prices? Would we have to wait for these sets to rotate out? I only got back into Magic earlier this year and I haven't had too much experience with prices as Standard sets rotate out.

Kind of bummed I didn't throw together a Zombie deck prior to Amonkhet.

Deckstats Feedback / Re: Card Database

It's a minor thing, but for Feral Prowler the creature type line has an error. It says 'Creatuer' and not 'Creature', and therefore sorts the card into a separate category from the main deck.

Why is Feral Prowler listed as other

It's been like that since I originally added them :-\ . Maybe once the set releases it will work properly they are in the same section in the deck editor as the other cards.

*Edit*
Ah! I see why I think! Look at the type line - it's 'Creatuer' instead of 'Creature'. I reported it to the Database thread to hopefully solve it. Was driving me crazy that I couldn't get it to show with the other creatures.

I want to make some custom kitten tokens to use as my play group does play casual after all.

Release the kittens!!!

*Edit*
It's a shame that Arahbo is Legendary... could have done some nasty things with Mirage Mirror otherwise.

Maybe it's because I'm looking at things from a casual point of view, but I feel it has a decent power level. Mind you I'm thinking of synergy between my own decks and the other 6-8 people in my playgroup... quite a few disgusting decks with essentially no ban list (except the un sets and like only 1 Sol Ring kind of deals).

I know it's still too early and I haven't played with any, but Mirage Mirror seems like it will be a hit for me.

I like that we saw support for tribes such as Jackal (I noticed a few older Hound cards are classified as Jackal).
