Commander Deck Reviews / Re: Judith Boardwipes

Sadistic Glee or Blade of the Bloodchief would allow Judith to start swinging for lethal after a good wipe or two to help close out the game.
Vicious Shadows would similarly allow you to quickly kill people off after any given wipe.

Eye of Vecna and Greed are pretty good ways to draw when you need it.
Magar of the Magic Strings allows you to keep repeating your spells, including your draw ones, as your 3/3s will have no problem getting through when you're constantly spamming wipes.

Please note that it is not dealing any damage with that ability. It is direct loss of life.
Damage triggers, reduction, prevention, and multipliers will not interact with that card's ability, nor will Lifelink for that matter.

The problem with Sword of Dungeons & Dragons is that it creates a gold Dragon token, as in its color is actually "gold" not shorthand for multicolored. Gold, like pink and “That dreamy shade of blue found only in the sky on a perfect afternoon… and in your eyes”, is not an actual color in Magic outside of Unset games.

Krark's Other Thumb, on the other hand, is pretty reasonable to rule 0 in. My group lets me use it in my Delina, Wild Mage deck.

100000 arrows and theft of dreams also can draw a lot of cards for cheap and I really struggle why not to run them. What do you think of them?

They're not bad, but not particularly amazing either. If you have a sufficient amount of free tapping you're likely already pushing along nicely to a win, but if you don't you're not likely to have the amount of things tapped down to get a good sized draw or have enough mana left over to make use of it. Basically, they're not something I'd run but they're also not something I'd tell people not to.

Commander Discussion / Re: Why are Proxies so relatively rare?
« en: Diciembre 25, 2023, 09:53:46 pm »
Hi,

My questions are:
1. Why are proxies not used more often?
2. why do you personally use or do not use proxies?
3. Do you have any Tipps for making extra cool and pretty proxies?
1. Not everyone is accepting of the use of proxies, and even when they are what's accepted varies so you'll generally just find people sticking to what they have.
2. Same as above. I have all of one deck running any proxies, and that's taking a marker to the Dominaria United common dual lands to make them the original duals (Idyllic Beachfront -> Tundra etc.) in my Rukarumel, Biologist sliver deck since it needs the consistency and those lands are very commonly accepted proxies. Occasionally I will make use of the helper cards intended for double faced cards as a proxy placeholder for good cards I've lucked into like Smothering Tithe so I can have it in multiple decks without shelling out for more copies.
3. No.

If your deck is all about taking advantage of large numbers, you should definitely be looking at March of the Canonized as "Secure The Wastes that can sometimes turn into giant vampire demon Bitterblossom" rather than the reverse as you'd want to be leaning more into explosive plays rather than steady trickles.

Aside from Light of Hope in my Rodolf Duskbringer deck, and planned for use in Will, Scion of Peace, there's Golgari Charm in pretty much every deck I have that can run it.
I don't have a reason to run it myself, but my Yenna, Redtooth Regent deck has caused a few people I play with to start packing Echoing Calm in their decks. Fair's fair though, I wouldn't want to let someone sit on a fat stack of Doubling Season, Defense of the Heart, Hydra's Growth, or Three Blind Mice either.

I wouldn't say getting immediate value out of it is in any way using it wrong, especially since unlike Bitterblossom or Assemble the Legion it does nothing on its own with a pretty steep devotion requirement that doesn't protect itself like the Theros gods do. If you toss that out with X as 0 to get it out ASAP, you're going to watch it get blown up.

The fact that you're looking at it from a Mardu point of view makes it worse, as your red pips won't help it activate.

Generically good cards like Rhystic Study and Esper Sentinel don’t help your game Plan all that much and aren‘t on theme or synergy. As Hylda is a good draw engine, it seems good to replace them with cheap tap effects.
Every time you use Hylda to draw you're not using her to advance toward a win, so having additional sources of draw helps out considerably. Additionally the taxing effect of those cards does play into what Hylda wants to be doing, which is dragging everyone else down to a crawl.

how can the deck be integrated here in a visually pleasing way?
When you make your deck, use custom subsections. Ideally you should have a section or two for your deck's goals, one for draw/card advantage, one for interaction, one for ramp, one for any other utilities, and finally one for lands. This allows you to more readily see how well your deck is distributed, and allows others to do the same to more quickly assess where your decks' weaknesses are to provide feedback.
For example, this deck is using custom subsections:

While this one, exactly the same, is not:

Thanks a lot for the details, it raises one larger question for which im not positive and that may induce a lot of approximations in my resoning :

When we resolve the stack, we resolve the last thing that was put on it, but then do we get to play other thing before the 2nd last thing resolves ? Or do we just sit and wait until the stack resolves unless there is a trigger ability that triggers and allows us to play things again ?
In order for something to resolve all players must pass without adding anything additional to the stack.
"405.5. When all players pass in succession, the top (last-added) spell or ability on the stack resolves. If the stack is empty when all players pass, the current step or phase ends and the next begins."
"608.1. Each time all players pass in succession, the spell or ability on top of the stack resolves."
"117.4. If all players pass in succession (that is, if all players pass without taking any actions in between passing), the spell or ability on top of the stack resolves or, if the stack is empty, the phase or step ends."

So, if for example, Player 1 casts Wrath of God and passes priority, you (Player 2) pass because while you don't want it to go off but are pretty sure Player 3 will counter it because they have the mana open to do so and would be even worse off than you, Player 3 does exactly what you expect and casts Counterspell, Player 4 is fine with this and passes, Player 1 responds to the Counterspell with Dovin's Veto, Players 2-4 all pass and it resolves countering Counterspell and now Wrath of God is up for resolution again, but these things must be decided on again because it still hasn't had everyone pass in succession, so now that Player 3 has failed to stop the Wrath you could toss out a Tibalt's Trickery in response to the Wrath despite passing the last time it was at the top of the stack waiting to resolve.

Citar
Since CtC needs to be resolved first, if you can it means you can play something first then cast CtC on the same stack no ? Because it feels to me that it is the same mechanism you described when you talked about suspension triggers and stack.
Casting anything before CtC will not allow it to be copied by CtC, as it has already been cast. The only reason it works with this double suspend scenario is that other spell doesn't actually get cast until after CtC.

I can't really see a stax piece being used as a commander and not being a stax deck, but what about a Group Hug/Stax mix? Everyone gets to play, but everyone has to play nice until you just win the game.

Myr Superion is basically completely useless in this deck. A basically vanilla 5/6 for 2 doesn't really do anything that Raggadragga wants to be doing. I'd say to swap it out for Drumhunter or another high mana cost spell.

Given the large number of of play lands from the graveyard options, Zask, Skittering Swarmlord, Perennial Behemoth, Ramunap Excavator, etc., it shouldn't be too hard to play for value rather than combo.
Titania, Protector of Argoth and Tormod, the Desecrator would help you flood the board for constantly putting lands into your grave and taking them out. Sorcerer's Broom, Bloodbriar, and Gixian Infiltrator will help out as well.
Aside from that, some normal self mill, sacrifice, and/or landfall strategies will help round out the deck.

Gaea's Blessing and Blessed Respite are pretty nice budget alternatives to packing Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre or the like for graveyard resetting.

I threw together an example of what kind of thing you could do. Budget's at about $90, so you could possibly swap out some of the basics for more utility nonbasics or dual lands.

Looks like a good first step, though I'm a bit surprised you didn't make any anti-Koma adjustments given your concerns. Should definitely try to get a Victory Chimes for it either way though, always having mana to pay into Hylda on others' turns is amazing.
Hopefully the deck works out a little nicer for you, let us know how it goes and if any other notable issues come up.
