Deck Reviews / Shire Deck (Tom Bombadil)
« il: Agosto 10, 2023, 10:50:11 pm »
https://deckstats.net/decks/24097/3077882-shire

This is an attempt to create a Shire deck (halflings mostly) that is allll about food and healing.
Tom adds in additional zazz with Saga's if that wheel can get started.

It's not perfect, but it's been a lot of work to get it this far,
so please please can you offer suggestions if you can see how this can get any better? I'm sure I'm missing some valuable stuff,

(Note: those ten lands are like $4k in themselves, not planning on including them in the final version of course)

thank you!

https://deckstats.net/decks/24097/2848240-jeska-falthis-obosh-and-rats-c

the deck starts strong, uses wheels and recursion, with burn and destroy enough to end a game.

jeska's -X ability deals DEATHTOUCH w/ Falthis. so she's able to kill 3 creatures for just -1 Loyalty

Falthis can deal 15 Commander damage with just a +3 buff spell and Jeska's triple damage perk (which brings them in range of insta death of 6 more Commander damage with just Jeska's ability alone).

the rats hit hard and are great to work with, sacrifice, whatever the game called for. just three rats are capable of punching for 20 damage (12 from one being tripled by Jeska, the other two rats hitting for 8 ).

now add in Obosh, doubling all that damage... Falthis being lethal in one swing with just a +3, the 3 rats hitting for 40, etc etc

note that tho the rats are amazing, they're definitely able to be replaced by way better crazy awesome red and black creatures... if you do pull rats their quantity might drop low enough for them to be inconsistent which destroys their strength entirely, so definitely all or nothing with these guys

p.s. the maybe board is stuff that's been worked off the list, the deck is really ~ $30 excluding the rats, and there's just so much potential with very little space and still keep the overwhelming power of the deck.

Phelddagriff with Keruga, been working on it for a while, wonder what you guys think :)

• bounce enough for Keruga, dovescape being one of many ways to control (or land destruction mutation with propaganda, etc)
• land untap dorks with land enchants, 3 land becomes 8, for anyone
• early game plays to deter fast aggressive decks
• easily hits a dozen mana in play

Deck Reviews / Re: Jeska Falthis Obosh and Rats

It's true Vial Smasher is great, my friend plays him with Sakashima and a couple dozen clones hehe works great

I'd miss the ability to -X for 1, dealing lethal damage to three creatures like *snap
Such fetchable aggro control, people don't like attacking when there's a deathtouch chillin

Deck Reviews / Jeska Falthis Obosh and Rats

https://deckstats.net/decks/24097/2205040-jeska-falthis-obosh-and-rats/en

Jeska backed by Falthis can drop 3 creatures with 1 damage deathtouch

3 rats can deal 40 damage between Jeska and Obosh

Falthis can deal 30 with Jeska and Obosh w/ a +3 spell

Wheels to scramble hands, personal furnaces, sac and resurgence and x damage outlets

Please tell me what you think ty :)

(ps the deck without the half dozen higher priced cards is ~$200)

Well - seems I've brought this to a decent polish, there's at least a good dozen cards that can be swapped out without hurting anything, but the Game Group I'm part of are each working on ways to make games go umm quicker? not to ruin the game, but not to prolong it either.

I'm now satisfied I can trompy trollop on most any table, and really packa punch. (I'm dueling competitive decks like Shake and Bake (Imposter/Vilesmasher), super stompy turn 3 elves, and pulling it off :)
Vultron Ho!

ps, you'll have like 15 mana by mid game, or more, believe me - even with a seedborn muse you can find all kinds of use for it ;)

Commander Discussion / Re: Fix mono white in EDH
« il: Febbraio 06, 2021, 06:58:44 pm »
mono-white has an incredibly competitive card pool particularly in EDH, someone can build a deck using just a flavor of what's available and can completely shut down and dominate games.

either you're not giving these cards the support they need (scepter + silence??) or maybe you're not giving it enough of a chance.

I've seen my groups 'ol whitie' a friend plays that is a tank at the table, never losing Hitpoints, always has creatures in play, responds all game long to every little thing people try to slip past it.

when you've found a "seasoning" from white that does the miracle work, you'll find it fits into any deck any commander any meta.

however if you're not willing to invest the effort or just don't have the interest, there are other colors that can give you a "play it and let it win" experience aka autopilot

in play testing I've found Damping Matrix doesn't really go the direction this deck is looking for. definitely fun updates to come.

just so fun.
Pheldda balances a game like a Jedi seeks balance in the force. a-mazing games :)

9
Just played another game, and wow the Mutate is SOOO powerful when you have like a dozen+ land in play. Over and over bouncing and replaying, she's the best engine ever.

10
It would.

Depends on the game, worst case you can play the mutate that disenchants (a few effects for this) if you feel like 'breaking the lock'.

Also, Teferri's Puzzlebox can be tricky with Mutates on it as she'd bounce with them but it all go to the bottom of the deck (her going to the command zone). A nice solution for that at least is to have these fetch lands, so you can shuffle the mutates back into the deck (which will be slimmer so you'll get them often).

So this concept follows a few principles:

1. Keruga is a hungry hippo and keeps eating all the little stuff, but she's worth having around. (EPICLY play your hand and get a new one.)

2. In those first few turns, there are Alt-Cast's as well as Foretell and Cycling errands to perform.

3. There are as many Bestow, Equipment, Buff-Lands and Mutate effects to aid towards Vultron.

4. The Mana Dorks and Land Aura's are to provide any color mana, in a way that can assist any player. (1 land tapping now for 2, with a dork, equals 4 times the mana... and Kruphix...)

5. Control is for maintaining some stability in a game where you're trying to Group Hug to your hearts content.

6. Shenanigans is for the effects that make this deck just so amazingly fun, in a way that through playtesting was found to be very, very useful.

7. and finally, Phelda herself, able to provide incredible balance to games with the copious amounts of mana this deck provides (I smile top-decking mana with this deck).

______________________________

Provide a game balance, giving hippos and cards and life where they would make everyone have equal fear/tension with each other.
If a player is about to *pop*, help the others to contend against them, etc etc

Hopefully you'll be able to bounce Phelda when needed - the mutates with her - and avoid paying too much commander tax to mutate her as a target... and even then start mutating other things you have bouncing them with the Erratic Portal and Crystal Shard... or just keep bouncing Keruga.

Dovescape is a ridiculous and absolutely amazing mode to switch into, just amazing. :)

ENJOY!

P.S. the $40 core is with honestly unnecessary cards removed, just go through and remove anything expensive and you'll find the original Core again (ps maybeboard is full of goodies!)

(if this is rude, to just link, I'll gladly post the list here please just tell me so)

This deck plays against some of the quickest, meanest, toughest decks around - and more often than not dominates.

I want to simply place this here, so you can see the JEWEL that Sisay is (without even mentioning the banned EDH list, as I like playing legit).

This is the Tech deck of Tool boxes, a work of over a decade.
ENJOY!

______________

Oh, and may I say, 80%+ of this is SOLID, but each different group and meta requires different responses - so certainly this is a core suggestion.

If it's rude to simply link like this, Please accept my apology, deckstats has such a clean system, seems best idk.

In the deck description you'll find the notes, again if that's not easy I'm sorry and do let me know.

Thank you, I'm definitely going "tryhard" on this deck lol!
