[Modern] Energy

Energy

Trying to put a fun, fairly fast energy deck together.  Up in the air about Gonti's Machinations and Live Fast.  Suggestions appreciated.

I like the idea of bringing Energy into Modern, as having Ugin as a payoff for Aetherworks Marvel seems pretty "auto-win". I tend to agree with you about Machinations and Live Fast. They're just okay, and you can probably do better. Maybe moving up to 4 copies of Glint-Sleeve Siphoner, and Longtusk Cub would be a good replacement for the 4 Live Fast. Then you still have extra card draw from the Siphoner's and you have an aggressive energy producing body to boot.

It might be a bit hard to cast, but Demon of Dark Schemes seems like a great payoff card here with all the energy production.

Aether Hub also seems like a perfect cards, since it helps with the mana base, and you should always have enough energy for it.
When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

I've adjusted the deck to include your suggestions.  As to the Demon of Dark Schemes, it shouldn't be all that hard with Aether Hub and Servant of the Conduit.

I think the first thing that needs to be decided is how you want to win the game.  What do you plan to do with the energy you are gathering?

Is it "I want to build and use energy slowly making my creatures stronger (Longtusk Cub, Bristling Hydra) or build card advantage (Glint-Sleeve Siphoner) until I overwhelm my opponent" or "I want to build to a critical mass of energy then release it all at once (Aetherworks Marvel) for a large hopefully game winning effect"?

I ask because both ways (imo) will want to build their deck differently.  Either way I think we should find something to replace Consulate Turret and Minister of Inquiries.

I think I'm leaning toward the more aggressive use of energy, I.E. Dynavolt Tower, Longtusk Cub.  Though I won't lie, my play style does tend to include a secondary, game winning effect.
