Overview
This is a very commander-centric deck, as it relies on [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] to do most of the cool stuff. The primary game plan involves playing [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] and activating it as much as possible. Because [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]]'s token-producing ability can only be activated as a sorcery, this deck tends to play almost everything at sorcery speed.
Artifact Land Ramp
[[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] can exile an artifact with mana value 0 from the graveyard. This includes artifact lands and other mana-producing things. Playing an artifact land, tapping it to activate [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]]'s sacrifice ability, then tapping [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] to reanimate the land basically turns a land play into 2 lands plays. The artifact lands include:
This is my favorite interaction in the entire deck and made the difference between me making the deck and not making the deck.
Activating [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] Even More
There are many ways to get extra activations out of [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]]. First, there are untap cards, which include [[Patriar's Seal]], [[Thousand-Year Elixir]], and [[Magewright's Stone]]. Then there is [[Mondrak, Glory Dominus]], which double's [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]]'s reanimation ability. Making 4 tokens with one activation is pretty sweet. Finally, there is [[Illusionist's Bracers]], which will also double [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]]'s token-producing ability.
Drawing Cards
There are a bunch of cheap artifacts that draw cards. These can be played, sacrificed, and then brought back with [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] for more card draw. Most of them turn into 0-mana or 2-mana "draw-threes." [[Ichor Wellspring]] can draw 6 cards for 4 mana, which is pretty neat.
Winning the Game
There's a few major cards that can go very big. These include:
Most of these put a ton of artifacts onto the battlefield, which can result in overwhelming value. It's important to be aware that these cards are something to work towards, and it is often a good idea to play with that in mind.
Besides these cards, there's also big creatures that can act as win conditions.
Another good line to take is to attack, wait for no blocks declared, and then sacrifice a bunch of artifacts to [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] for a big lethal pump.
If winning is proving difficult, then [[Platinum Angel]] and [[Platinum Emperion]] can help prevent losing for a while. [[Ethersworn Canonist]] and [[Lodestone Golem]] are pretty one-sided and can slow other players down. Getting multiple copies of [[Lodestone Golem]] is also pretty nice.
My favorite single card in the deck is [[Soulscour]]. This can often result in a "free win." [[Scourglass]] does a decent [[Soulscour]] impression.
Finally, there are [[Mindslaver]] loops. [[Goblin Welder]] can repeatedly bring back [[Mindslaver]] and control someone's turn enough times to lock them down. Sometimes a value [[Mindslaver]] with [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] (that only activates 3 times total) is enough to "turn off a player" long enough to kill them or get a win.
Other Notable Cards
Maybeboard Considerations and Exclusions
There are a lot of fun cards that just don't fit the theme
I cut a lot of good cards out that were too generic, like [[Blasphemous Act]], [[Smothering Tithe]], and [[Cathartic Reunion]]. I wanted the deck to use as many cool/unique/fun cards as possible.
I tried out the suspend mana artifacts ([[Sol Talisman]], [[Mox Tantalite]], and [[Lotus Bloom]]). They were good when they could be discarded and brought back with [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]], but they were not very good when actually suspended. Drawing [[Mox Tantalite]] on turn 3-4 feels really bad if you can't discard it. A card like [[Talisman of Conviction]] would be much better because you can play it for -2, tap for +1, sacrifice for -1, [[Osgir, the Reconstructor]] it back for -2, then tap both for +2; you end up spending 2 mana to cast a tapped double mana rock. That's a lot better than suspending [[Sol Talisman]] and doing nothing for 3 turns. I will have to see about adding more mana artifacts to the deck if it proves necessary.
