a nice 3-0. blue was pretty open in the draft, and i opened a jitte in pack 2, so i got a deck that felt like it had lots of consistency and strength. i wish i had one more powerful expensive card (instead of time warp), or more twin pieces, but those are pretty minor issues. i had a great suite of cheap cards and lots of instant-speed things that let me pass the turn with answers at the ready.
i beat anna on abzan cards match 1. my cheap removal kept her from getting too far ahead. in game 1, a fable pushed me into more action, and i won with many jitte-based resources. in game 2, her cave of the frost dragon was a nice threat that i had a hard time answering, and she also played a mirari's wake to pump the team (and mess with my conditional counterspells). hour of devastation cleared her side of the table, though, and a sideboard cosmos elixir kept my life afloat while i held some answers and picked away with bodies to get my jitte full. by the time she blew it up i gained 12 life and was able to close out with a hardcast shark typhoon.
i beat greg on esper in match 2. he rolled me in game 1 with an early adeline; on the final turn he tapped down to 1 land and i tried to sneak a pestermite win out, but he had the path. my open on triple mountain did not help that game. game 2 he played VERY cautiously, holding up answers and not tapping out for his threats. i never had the combo, but rolled out various threats - jace, chandra, fable - and he had to deal with all of them. eventually, dragonmaster outcast + jitte finished the task, as greg was out of his 1-for-1s. in game 3 things were similar, but greg flooded a bit - his hardcast murderous rider clued me in that he had nothing really going. a flipped fable + a sided in wurmcoil engine very rapidly ended the game several turns later.
i beat pete on jeskai in the final. his dashed ragavan ate a quick mana leak, and my jitte got shut down with a planar disruption. gideon and mulldrifter showed up and the board became very threatening. i used phantasmal image on mulldrifter and ripped my hour of devastation, which wiped the board, including the hard-to-handle seasoned hallowblade. i followed up with hardcast shark typhoon (again!). things weren't over - he had counterspell and sublime epiphany to slow me down - but getting sharks for all my spells was just too much value.
g2 - something like this:
t1: dragonmaster, pete does nothing
t2: mana leak something
t3: fable, pete plays coalition relic
t4: snapcaster/leak pete's JTMS
t5: hold sinister sabotage, be ready to flash it back with fable + snap
just got out front early and countered everything to win fast.
no twin wins, but a lovely draft and deck.
