3-0 in an irl draft. i only played this set once before, but i left with the impression that i'd be a fool not to play blue cards. so i kinda forced blue in the draft, and it was certainly open enough. red was tricky, but i got passed FTK p1p2 (!) and opened siege-gang commander p2p1, and so i was very incentivized to play these. in pack 3 i got enough other action to fill out the red part of my deck (the 2 chain lightning) even though i played ember beast, which is terrible.
the deck played nicely - it was a little slow, but the 2x impulse and 2x deep analysis let me see a lot of cards, and my best cards - siege-gang commander and confiscate - were real haymakers. i splashed the momentary blink because it really went off with those cards, and when i did those things, i won pretty hard. the 2 veiled serpents were timely in a lot of my games, and did a nice job holding down defense.
m1 vs UB control. he flooded game 1, and i just played cards to win. g2 was more competitive - we both played a reasonable curve of cards. but my deep analyses let me out card him hard. i used confiscate on hyalopterous lemure, siege gang shot down a few creatures, then the blink on siege gang put me miles ahead.
m2 vs BR aggro. he got a bit ahead g1, but the serpents were good blockers. confiscate on his dragon whelp was a big game, and i did 11 on the last turn with frantic search untapping mountains to pump the whelp + a chain lightning to the dome. g2 he flooded a bit and i had FTK plus momentary blink, which turned out to be enough.
m3 vs naya auras. we both established a board stall on the ground, but his flier was enchanted with seton's desire and spirit link. i never found the 6th land to confiscate it, and his tapper kept me from chumping to stay alive. in g2 he had a slower hand and i curved out with some chain lightnings to keep him off balance to win easily. g3 was a good one - i mulled pretty aggressively and kept a great hand with double chain lightning. but i missed my window, and he made a 3/4 flier with lifelink pretty quickly. however, he had no backup to this threat - lots of lands - and so eventually i got to use fire + chain lightning to kill it. he had griffon guide and got a 2/2 flier afterwards, but siege-gang cleaned that up. after this, he was ripping off the top and i had the leftover goblins and some more action. he made a giant 7/7 kavu that got shut down with leaden fists, and i finally got the hermetic study / horseshoe crab combo onto the board. this ended the game; i mopped his tokens from a random empty the warrens, and his dragon whelp got shot down similarly.
