WHY I LIKE THIS DECK
One of my favorite things to do in magic is throw damage around. Instead of making tokens, drawing cards, or staxing people out, I'd much prefer to stick a Magmatic Force or Ruric Thar, or just keep ticking up an Ugin the Spirit Dragon. The worst part of casting Lightning Bolt is knowing I won't be able to do it again this game...
Then Wrenn and Six came along.
UGH, ANOTHER WRENN AND SIX LIST? (spoilers: it's different)
Wrenn and Six is an incredibly powerful engine piece that can end the game fast, especially when paired with signature spells like Gamble or Crop Rotation to get stax or combo pieces.
This deck doesn't do that.
This deck mostly Gambles for Flame Jab and Life From the Loam.
FLAME JAB?
Yeah, you know, Flame Jab! You can cast it over and over again! One damage per land discarded! Woo!
UHHH...
Oh wait, it also triggers a Damage Permanent like Burning Vengeance, Sentinel Tower, Sphinx-Bone Wand (!) and Pyromancer's Assault (lol).
OH, OKAY, REPEATABLE LIGHTNING BOLTS
The R6 + Jab + Damage Permanent synergy lets you throw as many lightning bolts as you have lands around the table. God forbid you have a Runaway Steam-Kin while you're casting 3 Flame Jab per turn, that would be just awful. And Life From the Loam keeps you Retracing while also being another Damage Permanent trigger.
SCREW YOU, EXILE [PIECE OF YOUR COMBO]
If your Flame Jab gets exiled (lol) you can still do similar things with Seismic Assault and Molten Vortex.
If your Life From the Loam gets exiled (can't blame you, that card is nuts), Wrenn and Six, Tilling Treefolk, Groundskeeper, and Harvest Wurm can pinch hit. But if you want some big land influxes? Creeping Renaissance and Sprouting Vines pay off big time, and Vines even dodges graveyard hate.
Worst case, Throes of Chaos still works really well with most of the Damage Permanents, and you don't need as many lands since you'll probably only retrace it 1-2 times per turn.
SO IT'S EXILED, RIGHT?
But that's really sad, to have our engine taken away from us like that, so Krosan Reclamation and Noxious Revival are here to protect Loam and Flame Jab from graveyard hate.
SIN PRODDER?
One card that fits surprisingly well in the deck is Sin Prodder. He's a weird Devil Punisher Bob, but in this deck, we're pretty okay if everyone just always mills what he reveals. Especially if it's a land and they're like "Sure, I'll take 0," that's still fuel for the fire, baby! He also has menace which can kill some planeswalkers if people aren't ready.
