The deck started as the Precon for The Ur-Dragon. Precons are a good starting point for a deck type that you have nothing for, but pre-cons have bad mana bases and the theme was not as clear cut as I wanted. After two or three games i decided that i needed to improve the deck to keep up with the other players decks. So i googled and found EDHREC and the page with stats for cards that people put in and cards that they cut from their precon. My focus was on a better manabase and more fun and powerful dragons. I also researched other decks and primers like Ur-dragons multiverse onslaught primer, this primer was a big inspirasjon for my deck and manabase.
So the first thing that i did after i got the deck and played it a couple of times was finding out what cards was other players upgrading there The Ur-Dragon deck with and making my own list. and a core of Gruul started to form as a lot of dragons have red in there colours and green had ramp to get the needed man. The first thing that was upgraded was the mana base. Solid 5 colour mana bases are expensive, but it has alot of cards that is used in other decks and my playgroup is ok with proxis and i prefer not to proxi cards i don't own, unless they are very expensive and than it would just be for playtesting to see if I want to buy it. The decks design was based on playing Dragons and killing my opponents with combat damage. As a Student at that time, my budget was not endless so the most expensive part of the deck was the mana base because mana is important. Than i slowly bought the dragons that i liked and tried to fit them into the list and later refining after playing some games. The first iterations of the deck was slow, but it got better as i got better as a player and the deck got new and better toys like Selvala, Heart of the Wilds.
Because my group is more casual, the deck was build around facing 3 opponents. And i like the variety the deck give to each game by running low abount of tutors. Sure tutors would make the deck more powerful and i would probably swap some of the creatures for the tutors, but i like my deck as it is. I am not that big of a fan of counterspells, i know they are good and needed to stop some combo decks, but as stated earlier this is not a deck that i expect to win each game so some flaws is ok in my mind. The deck is also very colour hungery, this can be a problem vs. land hate and some staxs pieces.

Doing some card tests. Leyline binding might be a great removal spell for the deck, binding the old gods are good so might not be the real card to cut, but i want to see if bindings ramp are better than leyline bindings flash. Defense of the heart is great as a stacks piece or gives me a strong lead if activated. Swaping in survival of the fittest because i want to test it again. It is super strong at making me able to form a game plan. Was cut because tutors make deck less fun to play many times. Podcasts and youtube videos talk about chromatic lantern being slow for today's magic. So im testing conduit of worlds for it. Great for not missing lands lategame with a fetchland and the recursion might be good. Stinging study is great, but the preassure and hate that the deck generates in my playgroup makes it harder to play. Two-headed hellkite looks good, are great cheated in to play from all sorces other than the ur-dragon.

Teferi's veil is back in. Helps vs boardwipes that have become more common i my playgroup. Also nice with Hellkite courser, sneak attack and phorphoros, bronze-blooded. Fircraag did goad a thing or two, but almost never draws me cards. So he is going out for testing other cards.

The Kami War is to slow for the decks reputation in my playgroup so trying Otawara, Soaring City for more lands and still some possible instant speed interaction. Recurable with Life from the Loam. Still unsure if Otawara, Soaring City, Bladewing the risen, Soul Shatter, Swords to Plowshares or Hall of heliod's Generosity should have the spot. While Rith, Liberated Primeval is not out yet, I'm going to start playtesting the card for Scalelord Reckoner

I have not been able to playtest som of the previous changes, my opinion has changed on some of the cards so I'm still doing theoretical changes to the deck. As my Ancient Copper Dragon is soon to arrive in the mail, adding it to the deck. Dragonlord Silumgar is ok and has some nice tricks in the deck, but the low power does not trigger the draw enchantments so probably better with the Ancient Copper Dragon. Deep Gnome Terremancer is probably ok, but I really like Oath of Druids so the main reason to cut it is oath. Farseek is back in. Painful Truths for more immediate card draw and sylvan library out. Sylvan Library is great card selection and does some cool things, but the life cost for keeping extra cards is hard with all the life loss from other cards and from getting hit. Bladewing the Risen is another card i'm thinking about because it's great with Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm and can help me finnish of a game with terror of the peaks, scourge of valkas or dragon tempest Triggers. Some more changes, I have changed the deck to be more grindy and probably less competitive with the current iteration. Will be Testing to see if the deck can sustain the life cost of Black market connections. I have found the potensial target for swapping in Ancient Copper Dragon in Scalelord Reckoner. Scalelord Reckoner is hard to evaluate because you don't know when it made an opponent not want to target your dragons. Have to see if i miss Scalelord Reckoner when i get my Ancient Copper Dragon. The Cards that make the Current list more Grindy is Deep Gnome Terramancer, The Kami War, Ebondeath, Dracolich and Black Market Connections. Also Added som cards I'm currently thinking about to the sideboard and moved som i'm thinking less about.

Don't need all 10 fetchlands in the deck, It just makes it so that I loose too much life and get got by tutor hate. Wanted to put in more basic lands so added a mountain and took out white/blue fetch because its the least needed.

Spit flame did not get enough time for me to properly test it out, swapped for Glorybringer because i like the card ( and i have the cool art version) and fits my playstyle more. Astral Dragon is expensiv to get out and need some good non-creatures on the table. (from my plays it mostly get put out at a point where i'm winning. So because it need a way to be cheated out and it feels like win more card, it's going out of the deck and might make it back at a later date.) For cards to put in i want to test Ancient Copper Dragon as a back-up Old Gnawbone, but i don't have it so while i'm getting it, testing The Kami War as a slow value engine for longer games. Taking out Survival of the fittest, Card is good but this is not a graveyard deck and I think Draconic Muralists are a great fit for the deck and it replaces itself so it kind of like a card draw.

Testing some things and adding the cards from commander legends: battle for baldur's gate. Teferi's veil is a way to save creatures that attacked from sorcery speed interaction and boardwipes. It also works great with Sneak Attack, Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded and Hellkite Courser as you can't sacrifice or return a phased out creature. Spit flames works nicely with ebondeath, dracolich for grindy games and kills most commanders in my playgroup.

Probably a change i will swap out of, but as i currently don't use my korvold deck because it's a combo deck and my new playgroup is no infinite loops or instant "win the game" combos. Survival of the Fittest is a very powerful card and i want to use it. Dragonlord Atarka was the least impactful dragon for it's cost would love to have all the dragonlords cards in the deck but there is just so many good dargons. Sterling grove is added for its effect and to help get haste or Fiery Emancipation kill with The Ur-Dragon

Testing if Toski, bearer of secrets ar better. Reason for change is testing and i like to have more kaldheim showcase. for gameplay aspects: works better with double strike, better when cheated in with the Ur-Dragon trigger can draw cards on it's own. Kindred discovery is better in a tribe with lower mana costs. Still unsure about the change, if toski diees or gets exiled too much than i might switch back.

Trying some cards, Oath of Druids might be fun( swapped from Maelstrom Wanderer, cant remember last time i cast Maelstrom Wanderer, most big stuff are cheated in with Ur-dragon). Magda, Brazen Outlaw (swapped from Hellkite Tyrant) Hellkite Tyrant rarely stole something valuble(a meta call) and the "win the game" cause is hard to get (Old Gnawbone helps a lot, but at that point are we not already winning), Magda is cheaper, makes treasures and can get The Great Henge too. Immersturm Predator (swapped for Obsidian Charmaw) is getting a chance in prep for Kamigawa, Neon Dynasty deathtrigger dragon (Red and Green dragons), while the sac ability is not too relevant for the deck, it is good in case of a wrath effekt or to save a creature from an exile effekt. I also like that it grows and is graveyard hate, which the deck was lacking. Life from the loam (swapped from Rhystic Study) might not be a upgrade, but the main reason I added rhystic study in the deck was to draw more lands, now with 11 lands that go to grav

I'm not a big fan of counter spells, but i know we need them vs. Boardwipes and combos. So I just remembered Glen Elendra Archmage is a permanent version of negate. My main reason for not putting a counterspell in is that the best versions (mana drain) are colour intensive for blue and they are bad with cascade ( I want Maelstrom wanderer to have as few blank or bad cards to cascade into ). Glen Elendra archmage's persist works great with card like rhythm of the wild and the great henge that negate the -1/-1 counter with putting a +1/+1 counter on the creature. So its probably a great addition in the deck. Swapping for Faeburrow elder because I think this is a flex spot for the deck and preformance has been mediocre.

Moved a bunch of cards from maybeboard to tokens for storage of card options i might consider or reconsider. moved sideboard cards to maybeborad so i can have planned changes to the deck in the Sideboard. Got a Misty rainforest in a pack so now i m going to try swapping the checklands and spire garden for more fetchlands. Not including Marsh Flats because black, white and blue are not primary colours for the deck. might change if Naya and Jund trioms get printed in a future sett.

Testing tutor instead of interaction, to be more flexible. Diden't want to many tutors in the deck as i like the diversity of playpatterns making me able to play the deck multiple times and not have the same boardstate multiple time, making it more fun.

Adding back more removal, but trying options in the decks primary colours(red or green) to make it easier to cast than Anguished Unmaking, Removed Leyline Dragon as it's the dragon that does the least, would be better if the deck was mono-red. Chaos Warp can sometimes be bad, but its removal for anything and it works around indestructable and reanimation from graveyard. The other option was Beast Within, it always gives a 3/3 beast and all dragons can handle a 3/3, but it does not work against indestructable. Fiery Emancipation is something i want to try in the deck. Its great to finish off opponents if i have a board presence or a one shot with a hit from The Ur-Dragon and cheating it down with the ur-dragon attack trigger. Will swap Fiery Emancipation with Sarkhan the Masterless. it has helped me survive some multiplayer games from tokens and is very nice with Dragonlord Silumgar, but i think it does to little in disrupting opponent or developing our board as most of the time its a 5 cmc 4/4 dragon token..

Changed so that i have a main combo + back-up combat damage win. Urza's Incubator- Arcane Signet + : for faster mana for other things than dragons as they don't need it as much. Cleaned up sideboard with potensial cards/temp swaps. Added Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded. Want to test swapping him for xenagos, God of revels. Pros: all my creatures get haste(not just 1). (2R) for Sneak Attack for red and artifact creatures. Cons: no pumping creatures bigger.
