zaxara (EDH / Commander)

Goal

My goal for this deck was to have a bunch of X CMC cards to make hydra tokens with Wilderness Reclamation being in play. Still not sure if there is a way to reliably tutor for it. If I can, I would hope to have more effective non-X CMC instants such as counterspells. This way I can flood my board with hydra tokens while controlling my opponents. Plasm Capture and Disrupting Shoal are counterspells that still fit the theme of the deck.

Limitations and Pricing

Chose cards that I could afford. Generally chose nonland cards that are no more than $5 and land cards that are no more than $15. Also am new to EDH, so am unsure of what other cards could perform better than those that I've listed here.

Notable Cards

Wilderness Reclamation
Cast huge X CMC cards during your turn, then untap using Wilderness Reclamation to allow yourself to use instants.

Leyline of Anticipation
This was put in primarily to allow you to cast even larger X CMC cards when put together with Wilderness Reclamation. Put Vivien, Champion of the Wilds for a weaker & similar effect and to give creatures Reach since this deck is weak to fliers.

Endless Scream
I particularly like this card in the deck because an X/X hydra token will be made on cast if Zaxara, the Exemplary is in play. Then Endless Scream will resolve and you'd be able to enchant the token. Essentially doubling the value of X.

Full Flowering
With a decent board, you could kill on the next turn with this card. Especially if you have Zendikar Resurgent in play.

Kruphix, God of Horizons
I particularly like this card with Leyline of Anticipation in play. You'd be able to cast cards as you need them due to flash. Then if you get back to your turn with unused mana, you may generate that mana and keep it all as uncolored mana to make even larger X CMC spells.
