Dr. Kylie Moriarty was left devastated after Pharika, God of Affliction, helped her realize that she had just given the evil Tiamat just what she wanted by making her an army of dragons and clones of dragons. But Pharika set the world to right by banishing Tiamat and her evil army to another real and banning them from ever coming to either Theros or to the realm of Planet Earth.

Dejected and defeated, and worse, having upset the only deity on Theros Kylie found worthy of worship, she left Pharika's presence and returned home to England, determined to stay as a pure doctor and stop all efforts to cleanse the multiverse of the taint planeswalkers were still causing. If time and space collapse, she tried.

Naturally, Pharika did not put up with this for very long and dragged Kylie back to Theros for a good talk. She explained to her that forgiveness can be found, if you are willing to pay the price. For most, that is lack of memory (that is, Pharika can take away your sins before death and make you pure by stripping you of your library). She would not subject the only doctor almost as good as she was to that. No, she demanded Kylie strip others of their memories of evil so that Pharika could erase their pasts and cleanse them before they came to Athreos. As she began practicing it, Kylie discovered that the forgiveness comes in the process, not the deed itself. And so the quest for redemption had begun.

It seems not all of the dragons created for Tiamat were loyal to her. Led by a clone of Wasitora, Nekoru Queen, these dragons waited on Theros for Kylie to return. When they were informed that she was present again, the dragons came to her (basically all the dragons that appear both in this deck and in Kylie's Revenge). Dr. Moriarty was merely attempting to make cat clones, but the dragons convinced her to make a partial alliance.

Naturally, Nylea, Mogis, Purphoros, and Erebos became quite curious about why so many people who had done horrible things before death were now spiritually clean and going to a part of the Underworld Erebos couldn't go. They discovered the project and none were pleased about it. They were going to attack Dr. Moriarty and then tell Pharika off, until a fleeing Vivien Reid and an angry Jaya Ballard appeared. Kylie told the gods she would do what they wanted if they put a stop to the fight between Vivien and Jaya. Only when the fight was over did the gods realize these two were also clones, Jaya having had escaped Dr. Moriarty's lab and so she'd sent Vivien to find and recapture her.

To show the gods how the project worked, she used the memory-erasing process to purify the planeswalkers' three souls. Now that the gods understood it, they approved of the process, except for Erebos. He was so livid that he began trying to destroy the lab and everything in it. This stopped when Kylie turned the project on him. It did not work, but it certainly gave him a new understanding of things. He wanted to see it tested on Heliod, and all the other gods agreed. So Kylie refined the project to see if it would work on Heliod. But as she finished it, she realized it wasn't that important. The only thing that truly mattered was cleaning up time and space so the multiverse wouldn't collapse.

It was in that midnight moment when Pharika told her she had been forgiven at last for helping Tiamat, and that now she was free to resume her normal work. Instead, she spent the night honoring Pharika, then left in the morning, leaving the forgiveness formula and the Theros lab in Pharika's capable scales.

Darksteel Reactor is in the deck because it worked to balance the colors out, as any other win condition threw the delicate color scale off in one color's favor.

Revel in Riches was brought into the deck only because of Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge, but it seemed to work just fine.

Millstone, Mindcrank, Extractor Demon, and Syr Konrad, the Grim, are part of the deck's mill pattern.

Leyline of the Void makes sure everything stays gone. Normally, Dragon Mage would be useless, but with the Leyline of the Void in play, suddenly making people discard their entire hand isn't such a foolish idea after all.

Vivien Reid is present because she can make all creatures indestructible. Jaya Ballard and Infernal Tribute are in the deck only to serve as part of the draw team which will allow Jolrael, Mwonvuli Recluse, to make cat tokens. Erebos, Bleak-Hearted, Mad Prophet, and Oread of Mountain's Blaze also provide draw.

Lathliss, Dragon Queen, Utvara Hellkite, Moonsilver Spear, Jade Mage, Slimefoot, the Stowaway, Jedit Ojanen of Efrava, and Jolrael, Mwonvuli Recluse, are on Purphoros; team. Dr. Moriarty discovered that he does wonders, creating light damage at the arrival of creatures and tokens, especially if Mindcrank should happen to be around.

Mogis, God of Slaughter is there primarily to force a choice for opponents between taking damage or losing someone. Either way. Dr. Moriarty has provided him a Mindcrank. "A non-violent way to slaughter, Mogis," she reassured him.

Nylea, God of the Hunt is there only for balance, providing trample and a power boost.

Pharika, God of Affliction is simply the real commander of the deck. But she can get into the token act at will if needs be.
