Dr. Kylie Moriarty and her working partner, Pharika, God of Affliction, managed to find a treatment for the infection that was spreading all across Theros and had begun to show up in England. With the treatment in hand, Kylie went home and began implementing it. Essentially, she prevented a plague on Planet Earth, but she was not pleased to learn that it was the Americans who intentionally went out and got the Phyrexian infection, and then began trying to spread it. To a doctor like her, the 'freedom' to be stupid is one that shouldn't be a thing.

So that became her next project. She wanted to find a way to cure stupidity. Determining that this was madness, Pharika visited Kylie in her lab, along with Kruphix and Phenax. Pharika and Kruphix were talking her out of this madness, only to have Phenax get her even more excited to work on it. Ultimately, however, Kylie remembered that all Phenax understands is taking the truth away and leaving people with nothing if he can. She would have loved his help, but he makes more whoppers than Burger King. Kruphix finally had enough of Phenax's tall tales and went back to Theros, taking Phenax with him.

With the idea of stopping human stupidity having been proven to be a pointless exercise, Kylie starts trying to come up with a new project to put her mind on when she is interrupted. The cats and some new dragons are having quite an argument on her private island, and it's only getting louder and might soon lead to violence among her clones. Unwilling to have this, Kylie storms out there and orders a halt, glad to have Pharika at her side to give her some authority. She determines that her newest clone, a copy of Reaper King, has insulted them both. When Kylie goes to talk to her Reaper King, he firmly insists on that only scarecrows matter, and that dragons are the silliest things he's ever met in his life. Kylie decides to induce an Artificial Evolution in him, changing his nature. He still thinks nothing of dragons, but now scarecrows bore himself. Cats, on the other paw, are now his new favorite creature.

To prevent the dragons from becoming angry, Kylie talks to her clone of Silumgar, the Drifting Death, and tells him that there are still Americans out there who have taken the Phyrexian infection, on purpose, and they need to be found, captured, and brought to her for treatment. Neither Kylie nor Silumgar have any interest in asking their permission . . . Reaper King decides that he wants to help, and brings a Skycat Sovereign along. The first person to raise any objection to this is the clone of Oketra the True, who stops the whole thing by telling the lot that kidnapping people and not just asking them is wrong. She threatens to call up warriors to keep the lot in check, but she's subjected to the Artificial Evolution, too, and her warriors are created - but as cats, not as humans.

Still, Oketra made a valid point about needing to ask people's consent, and so Kylie backs down and tells her troops that they're not leaving the island, and neither is she. So, since the multiverse is still subject to the worsening taint from the planeswalkers planeswalking, Kylie goes back to working on her Helix Pinnacle. That's when she gets the idea that what she really wants to work on is a Simic Ascendancy, showing the world what making mutants can really do.

Phenax, God of Deception, is soon back to meddling. He gives Dr. Moriarty a Stolen Identity spell, which she had forgotten she used to use as a way to make basic clones in her early days. Phenax gets Kylie to agree to let him punish the Americans himself by making them think they want to be cured. She knows that this violates ethics on a massive scale, but letting them run around and infect each other will be bad enough with the Americans. Once it breaks out of the States, it could start a real plague. Phenax soon sends out his ravens of unresting thought to torment anyone who has been exposed to the Phyrexian infection until they come here to seek treatment. Of course, Phenax lied on that part. He's really sent them off to a wilderness to die together away from the rest of the world. Doctor that she is, Kylie can't have that, and reverses her orders not to leave the island. This time, however, it's a rescue mission rather than a kidnapping. She tries her best to forget she's rescuing . . . Americans. To stop a plague, you have to treat everyone. Even those who ran out and got the infection on purpose because they have no sense.

This deck was meant to be a mill deck, and it still is, but it got taken over by dragons for the sake of Silumgar, the Drifting Death.

Aegis Automaton is the personal assistant to Angel of the Dire Hour, who uses it to bring her back to the hand after she has exiled an attacking army.

Angelic Skirmisher loves the Stolen Identity spell because she loves being able to operate in all three of her functions.

Beledros Witherbloom abd Dragonlord Dromoka are here because the Stolen Identity spell got loose and began spreading among the non-legendary dragons, leaving even Silumgar at a loss to control them. For their own reasons, they stepped in and helped control the dragons, without asking Silumgar if they could. He wanted to explode on them, but Vitu Ghazi Guildmage just couldn't stop playing with the Stolen Identity spell and making more dragons (and cats). So, he had to concede to the need for them as his sub-generals.

Fountain Watch was entrusted to watch over the developing Simic Ascendancy, as it is a natural evolution from Death's Presence.
