Christmas meets MTG (EDH / Commander)

Zedruu the Greathearted gives us a clear game plan, but you still may be curious about exactly how that plays. The early game is all about setting up, playing out your assorted signets like Azorius Signet, building a pillowfort out of Ghostly Prison effects, and getting a key piece with something like Idyllic Tutor.

In the midgame, Santa drops in from the command zone and can start throwing around notable cards, or taking advantage of cards that toss themselves around the table. Humble Defector and Kharn the Betrayer are personal favorites, but a harmless Fog Bank or a friendly Pendant of Prosperity is also lovely.

The end game becomes a grind, much to your advantage. You have a truly impressive number of ways to end the game (one of them not actually winning at all), including Approach of the Second Sun, combos like Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, cruel cards to donate like Illusions of Grandeur, and the ability to combo Isochron Scepter with an Everybody Lives! alongside mana rocks and Unwinding Clock.

An Everybody Lives! every turn is some beautiful nonsense, and if that doesn't do it for you, you can always draw the game with Divine Intervention. Just imagine the meaner donations are coal in opposing stockings and we don't even lose any flavor!
