Commander Deck Reviews / Re: Tovolar Werewolves

Glad I could help ^^
I built Tovolar myself and played him quite a lot since the set came out, so I had some thoughts to share.

Decent looking list, but you are running some really sub-par werwolves. If it's for flavour purposes fair enough, but there are some wolves which would probably do a better job, and still let you be budget friendly.

Deranged Whelp -> Hinterland Hermit : the whelp having menace means that if played on turn 2, it's pretty much guaranteed to hit someone for a card if you play Tovolar on turn 3, and the Hermit's ability when flipped isn't that great if you actually want to draw a card.

Pyreheart Wolf -> Spellrune Painter : the pyreheart's ability is super useful, as it makes your puppies harder to block, therefore netting you more damage and cards, and the undying means you have a body left behind to draw more cards after a boardwipe.

Wolfir Avenger or Silverfur Partisan -> Hinterland Logger : the Trample on the flipped Logger is nice, but otherwise it's pretty mediocre. These two offer more resilience or protection for cheap.

Berserkers' Onslaught -> Zendikar Resurgent : Zendikar Resurgent is a pretty cool card, but you don't have enough ramp to get it out early enough, and since most of your creatures are cheap, you'll be far better off playing them and protecting them. Tovolar is your main source of card draw, and the Onslaught will net you more cards and more damage.

Afflicted Deserter -> Kessig Forgemaster : The deserter is more expensive, but his flip ability is pretty decent and offers more utility.

Also, try to fit Reliquary Tower. If you get enough wolves out early with Tovolar, being able to keep your extra cards is dope.

Seems like a nice thing to try. I know the feeling towards Kiln-Fiend "combo". I'm playing a mono-green devotion/stompy deck and yeah, combo decks are truly difficult to deal with when all you wanna do is just beat them down and when you don't have that much removal for their problematic creatures.
You should probably think about that in your sideboard, but the deck seems quite constant in its gameplay and it can surely put a lot of pressure.

I saw "Temur" and I couldn't help but have a look X)
Is this something you wanna build for casual play? What exactly is your game plan?

You could always use something like Fascination, as it can either mill yourself if you already have your maniac out, or draw if you need to find one. Screeching skaab or Sultai skullkeeper are not very powerful but they can help milling a bit while giving you some board presence. If you want something a bit more powerful or hard to block, try using Aberrant Researcher and Silumgar Sorcerer. Flying is a perfect evergreen for a blue-aggro, and these two can provide extra value (either by milling yourself a bit and become more powerful, or flashing/countering something too big your opponent wants to cast)

You may also want to give this itty bitty wittle 3/3 fellah a go.
Pathbreaker Ibex

So, if you say you casted Temur Ascendancy or Surrak, the Hunt Caller before, like turn 3 or 4, you put Surrak Dragonclaw on turn 5 and then that little goaty... That's a sweet idea ^^

You are welcome but that was just mostly destruction mass removal, see if I can find more than just 1 exile removal.

Well I'm pretty fine with mass removals, as I can kill my opponents's weakest creatures without killing mine (as they are almost all big monsters) and it's always a nice backup plan. Blasphemous Act and Savage Twister seem very interesting to me, and Curse of the Swine could be a sweet idea

You would prefer edric because 1. He's a creature which is kind of the temur way. 2. He can be used politically in the game. 3. He's only a three drop over a four

Very true. Might be a nice idea to try him. Thanks ^^

robort: That's a lot of removals... I guess I'll have to check which ones I prefer. Thank you very much ^^

You are going to need 1 board wipe card and I'd recommend sword of the animist

Is there a good board wipe you would recommend?

bensonbledsoe: that seems like an interesting idea, but why would I prefer him over the Bident?

ladof: Gosh I'm so dumb. Of course she would work well in that. Thanks. I just need to see what to switch for leave some room for her

Err, Surrak Dragonclaw is Green, Blue and Red ^^' there is a mono green version of him I'm using in the deck, but it's called Surrak the Hunt caller

General Magic / Re: Way to search decks with my collection?

I think Tappedout.net will do what you are looking for in regards to searching out decks that contain certain cards.  I don't know if its exactly what you are looking for but its the only place I can think of.

https://deckstats.net/decks/67320/512489-u-r-prowess/en  My version of a Modern Prowess deck.  I use nivix cyclops in this deck and it can win on turn 4 fairly easily.  Turn 3 - Nivix Cyclops, Turn 4 - Titan's strength on nivix, Slip Through Space on nivix, Temur Battle Rage on nivix.  Turns into a 13/5 unblockable, double strike, trample creature.... Fun times :)

Hehe, a quick way to victory X)

Firstly, welcome to the world of Magic ^^

Secondly, if you take Nivix Cyclops as a "key" creature for your deck, it could be good to look at things like Wee Dragonauts, Spellheart ChimeraStormchaser Mage as well as any other low drop creature with prowess, and things like Gelectrode that will help you take full advantage of any instant or sorcery you cast.
As for spells, anything like Slip Through Space and Taigam's strike are good choices (though they are standard now, but commons so not too expensive), pumping all your creatures and giving the biggest damage dealer of your team the insurance that he will strike.

Hi guys.  :)
With a group of friends I wanted to start playing commander, and since I started playing Magic with the Tarkir block I wanted to make a deck using a creature from that block as my general.
I choose Surrak, mainly because I love playing big creatures and doing the game as mother-nature does it.
I didn't have the chance to try it out yet, but I'ld love to hear suggestions/comments or anything else on it. Thank you ^^
