UPDATE! I ended up playing a G/W bogle deck that my friend had prepared for me at Pauper. Needless to say, it's a very popular tested-and-true deck so I did quite well. I was kind of disappointed that everyone in Pauper seemed to be playing strictly net decks (I played against the EXACT SAME deck two rounds in a row and both had stupid infinite mana combos). The cool thing is that you know what is in someone's deck a few turns in and can predict their moves though.

So I want to try this one as a homebrew Pauper regardless of how effective it will be right off the bat. Let me know what you think of this version as I may purchase the cards for it (surely I can afford to throw $10 into a fun deck even if it flops lol).

Wow you guys really know the ins and outs of the rules! I like the "last to first" saying so I'll probably stick to that for awhile! Lol thank you so much for breaking it all down, it really does help for future card combinations as well.

THANK YOU! Deck building really stresses me out... I'm not good at it and I'm too proud/broke to net deck stuff. I don't have Center Soul or  Butcher's Glee but I do have all the other cards you mentioned. I really like the idea of Ghostly Wings and Nantuko Husk. I can maybe throw in Grotesque Mutation in place of Butcher's Glee, it doesn't regenerate but it could possibly buff the Husk enough to save it and give me life. I have Dark Dabbling as well, but I wasn't sure about using it.

Narrowing cards and strategy down are really difficult for me so I appreciate the help!

Thank you guys for the input! My strategy on this deck is all over the place, I haven't really been able to narrow it down so I know I need to do so if it's going to be competitive.

I have only been playing Magic for three months so the cards I own are mostly from SOI and that's why I use them in my decks. I'm also your standard broke college student so buying expensive or large amounts of cards isn't always an option. Deck building has been something that is super hard for me. I have seen tons of people just slap together a deck that does really well and I'm just not experienced enough to wrap my head around that yet. I lean on this forum for tips and advice typically because I just don't have a clue on some stuff, so I always appreciate it when people can break things down for me!

So this post got kind of buried (or this deck is just that unappealing) but I have a question on it that I could use some help on if someone has the answer. I want to try this deck out at Standard soon.

Can I combo Murderous Compulsion with Stern Constable? If I discard Murderous Compulsion to trigger Stern Constable to tap an opponent's creature can I tap the creature, pay the madness cost on compulsion, and destroy a creature? Or do I have to discard compulsion, pay the madness, and use the spell before I can tap an opponent's card?

Deck Reviews / Impromptu Pauper Help
« il: Giugno 27, 2016, 10:27:04 pm »
Hey guys, so I have been invited to play pauper with a friend at the shop he goes to tomorrow. Trouble is I don't have a ready-made pauper deck so I'm trying to throw one together. I don't have time really to go out and buy cards so I'm working with what I've got.

I've never played this format so I'm not sure what direction to go. Help is appreciated!

Here is the first draft I threw together:

I can probably cut out the blue entirely, but I'm entertaining the idea. The thing I was really hoping for was Nantuko Husk and Unruly Mob combo. Keep sacrificing things and pulling them out of the graveyard. It's all over the place right now, and all cards listed are cards I have at least 2 or more copies of.

Thank you for your input. I gotta say I'm not a fan of Kessig Forgemaster at all, it just won't survive any form of combat... I don't see it being good.
Duskwatch Recruiter, a nice card but I had him in my deck for quite a while and he somehow never seemed to do any work... And transformed he is not of much use as I try to put everything on the battlefield via AEther Vial.
IMO Howlpack Resurgence is simply too mana-costly.
Arlinn Kord however is a card I still want to try, but when I ran it once or twice against control decks of my friends it just would never resolve.

Here's a link to the new Werewolf: https://mythicspoiler.com/emn/cards/ulrichofthekrallenhorde.html

I've had good luck with the forgemaster, but I play standard. I typically do not have the budget to throw around on good modern decks so I have no idea what the competition is there. The new werewolf does look pretty sweet.

Deck Reviews / Re: Opinions on Tempo Werewolves and Sideboard [Modern]

I'm surprised you aren't playing more of the werewolves from the Shadows Over Innistrad set with so many to choose from!

Here are just a few suggestions for maintaining quick tempo and low mana costs:

Kessig Forgemaster is an excellent two mana cost card for a werewolf deck, she flips into Flameheart Wolf and burns opponents ever time you use her.

Duskwatch Recruiter is very popular right now, especially when transformed to Krallenhorde Howler.

For spells, Howlpack resurgence might be better than Full Moon's Rise for tempo because it has flash.

Arlinn Kord is an amazing card for werewolf decks because you can use her abilities instead of casting spells each turn.

Titanic Growth can be awesome too if you're just trying to swing in and end it all quickly with a big monster, I combo it with Silverfur Partisan in my wolf/werewolf deck.

There is a rumor that one of the new cards with Eldritch Moon will be a legendary werewolf so you may keep your eyes out for that if it turns out to be true and if it turns out to be a good card.  :)

As far as your sideboard, I would probably play one of these to deal with flying decks: Clip Wings, Aim High, Rabid Bite, or Moonlight Hunt to deal with flying creatures and potential threats.

I use Magmatic Chasm in my sideboard for one of my aggro decks so I can swing quick and wide when I'm playing against weenie, elf, or token decks.

Hope that was helpful! The real test will be to play it a bazillion times and tweak it every step of the way. Good luck!

Yay thanks! As far as the legendary rule, would it really come up in commander since you can only have one copy of each card anyway?

Those are some great suggestions, and I have some of those cards already! I thought vampiric rites was already on there... It's really confusing to read through such a long card list when building that I may have skipped it. I have a question of my own... Can you play other legendary creatures in your deck your just the commander? I think I have some in my deck anyway but I was just wondering how that worked.

I'll ask around at my shop this Friday and see if anyone has any!

You know, if you wanted to? https://www.cardkingdom.com/catalog/item/205876

Thanks! I will get some cards online if they don't have any at the shop I go to or if there isn't anyone at FNM who wants to trade or gift some to me for free!

What if one of her demons went to alara and led an enemy faction against the angels? That would give a good reason for Gideon and liliana to have to work together. We know how liliana likes her corpses.

Demons vs angels where we are really rooting for the demons as the good guys would be awesome. Liliana and Gideon would be a tense alliance so that could be an interesting story line.

Thank you! I have those cards, but they are in my zombie deck so I'm reluctant to take them out lest I forget to put them back in before I play a standard event.  :-[ I think shamble back is in the commander but I know I only have one copy of ever after.
